Vitamasques: K-Beauty Brand Masks Review Part 1

Hello! Today I’m going to review the Vitamasques masks that I got in my lovely batch that I told you about in my previous Vitamasques post.

I have really dived in with these reviews on each individual mask so I decided to break this post into two parts so you could easily access whichever mask you are interested about.

I really hope you like it and enjoy the read!

Citrine Face Mask

This was the first mask of the pack I used, since I was pretty excited with all the combination therapy claims, and also because I’m naturally drawn to minerals and colors so I was very curious about this one.

The fabric was different of the ones that had tried before, which were either soft and dense or like a more paper consistency, but this one was fibrous and soft at the same time. I did enjoy the smell and the application was really easy as it stayed on with no sliding or problems whatsoever. When I applied it, there was a lot of remaining serum on the packaging, which I like to use in my neck, hands etc.

After about 20 minutes I removed it, and most of the essence was absorbed into my skin. While other masks still are very damp when you retire them and others tend to dry up faster than they should, these worked perfectly in the prescribed time and the sheet mask was dry but not excessively when I retired it. While I was using it, it stung a little bit on my face, but my skin could have been sensitized due to the use of acids lately on my routine. Anyway it was bearable, just a little bit.

My skin looked brighter and felt great and revitalized, not much as hydrated and soft as evened up and energized. Would definitely want to try the other ones in the gemstones line to see the different effects they can achieve, so I’ll be really looking forward to get more of these.

Black Gold Mask

The next day I picked this mask because I’m always curious about products with gold in it (right as I write I’m spotting a gold speck in my left hand because I just used this one), and purifying masks have been my favorite for a long long time, though I now prefer brightening ones.

The mask fitted perfectly and was less soft than the first one and with more of a wipe consistence, fibrous and thin, with little gold specks all over it. The smell was pleasant though not very special for me, and I used the remaining essence on my neck and hands like always.

Charcoal masks have always been one of my most used ones, along with other charcoal products, since I have dealt with problematic skin and blemishes for the longest time, though that era seem to be over. Being accustomed to this ingredient, I knew it could be a little harsh on my skin but the mask didn’t feel uncomfortable at any time, though it was a little bit itchy, like the last one, in my driest areas like around the mouth.

After the initial occasional stinginess, the mask felt super fresh and relaxing while I had it on. I really felt in the mood of just enjoying the self care moment and peacefully wait til the alarm went off instead of keeping fiddling around with my computer.

In fact, I was so relaxed with this one that tried a technique that I had been looking to try for a while, and that is using a face roller over the sheet mask. I still need to investigate more about face rollers and maybe put up an article about those because they seem really interesting to me and I recently got my first one, an obsidian one from Fourth Ray Beauty. The more I rolled and the more I left the mask on, the more refreshing and amazing it felt on the skin, till I finally stopped and retired it. My skin felt cool and fresh and looked brighter than before using the mask

I have to say that my opinion on this one improved a lot after my first impression, which was good, but I grew to absolutely love its refreshing effect and the rolling experience! One very special mask to definitely try.

Multivitamin Sheet Mask

This one really caught my attention the day I chose to use it because with the spring starting and all, and though I always wear sunscreen, I had a little sunburn situation going on and my skin was really dry around the mouth. All in all I wanted a more nourishing/hydrating mask rather than a purifying one to let my skin recover a bit from the dehydration, so this mask seemed perfect with all the vitamins and nourishing power. It also claimed to have a brightening power which I’m always up for so I went ahead and picked it.

This one also had a lot of left over essence which I could use all over my neck, arms and hands, and it gave a very refreshing sensation from the beginning, kind of similar to the one I had at the end with the Black Gold mask, but this time there was no tingling or stinging.

I have to say that the face roller technique improved the mask experience immensely so this time I reached for it as soon as I was settled with the mask. I like to think that I make the most of the mask this way, since it is supposed to improve absorption of skin care products, and also the relaxing effect is boosted by the cooling quality of the mask so it was perfect. I think that from now on I’ll use my face roller on any mask that allows it!

When I removed the mask my skin felt really nice and comfortable, and it definitely added a beautiful glow to it!

Cosmic Pink Ruby Glitter Peel Off Mask

I picked this one as the first mask for a Friday Night skin care intensive. I was really curious about it because I had been hearing about and seeing glitter masks everywhere but I hadn’t had the opportunity to try one yet. I also had a Purifying one in my set, but since the good weather started my skin has turned a little more dry than usually, probably because of the action of the sun, so I picked this one since it claimed to be revitalizing. I usually prefer sheet masks to peel off ones, so I decided to leave the best for the end and use this one first and then end up the session with a sheet one.

I was advised to only use it in my T-zone because it could be a little painful to remove from the areas with peach fuzz and so I did, because I generally tend to have that kind of problems with peel off masks.

It had a really nice and fruity smell, and it was very refreshing when applied. I was afraid all the refreshment will turn into irritation, since I had just used a peeling cleanser before using the mask and I was scared that my skin might be too sensitive, but it didn’t. The refreshing sensation lasted as the mask dried and it did feel quite revitalizing indeed! I even felt more active and awake though it was late at night, nothing exaggerated but all the refreshment and nice fruity scent took my drowsiness away. I enjoyed the moment and left it on till it dried completely.

It was actually pretty difficult and a little painful to remove, but that has happened to me with every peel of mask that I have ever tried and I had already prepared myself to it so it wasn’t too annoying. My skin was all red when I finally took it all off but not in a bad and irritated way actually, more of that intense natural blush glow that you get when you have a fever. I would recommend using this before another more hydrating and deeply nourishing mask as I did, because your skin is left a little bit upset (though not upset looking) after the removal process and the sensation of a sheet mask after that doesn’t have a price!

Jeju Green Tea Mask

I had this one ready to use right after the Cosmic Glitter Pink one and I have to say that I couldn’t have made a better choice. I generally love green tea masks so I had been saving this one for I day that my skin really needed some love, and still it surprised me so much in a positive way.

The sheet was really soft and the essence had a texture that I really loved, kind of similar to real essence ampules and serums from Korean Beauty cosmetics. Usually the essence that sheet masks have tend to be a little too on the messy side for me, much more viscose than what I would wish for. But with this one it wasn’t the case, the mask was a delight to apply and after the peel off mask my skin felt instantly calmed and quenched. The left over essence on the package was a pleasure to use since it absorbed really quickly and had a very light weight but deeply hydrating formula.

Having it on was such a nice experience, my skin felt so so revitalized and cooled down since the moment I applied it, it was the perfect way to end my skin care intensive session.

I obviously had to use my face roller on it, but I waited for a bit so it had time to act on its own and when I felt like the main impact had already passed, I took out my roller and rolled and rolled over it while I finished watching a movie. I had had a very busy week so I hadn’t had time to use my face roller since the last time I used a sheet mask, so my face felt absolutely amazing while rolling over this mask. I know that I have said it quite a few times already but I highly encourage you to try and use a face roller over your favorite sheet masks since it is such an amazing experience and I think it really boosts the effect of the masks, and also it is as relaxing as ant other kind of massage – I’m always in pain so I’m a massage addict myself.

When I removed the mask my skin felt so amazing that I thought it just needed some oil to seal in the goodness (I picked argan oil in this occasion) and I could already get on my bed. Probably it was the combination of the hard to remove but effective peel off mask and the soothing properties of this one, but my skin felt perfectly smooth as I applied the oil, with zero roughness, impurities or dry patches. This was probably the most amazing my skin texture has been after a mask session! Will definitely use this one again.

And that is all!
I will be back very soon with the second part of this post where I review the remaining masks of the set and where I’ll also be giving some final thoughs and conclussions about them and the use of sheet masks or masks in general as a part of a self care routine.
I really hope you enjoyed it!
Lots of love.

Balmain Fall 2019 Ready-To-Wear Collection

Again and for another season, style and couture recently had a meeting in the last Paris Fashion Week. And as always, one of the most commented and awaited collections arrived without disappointing anyone, including myself. The era of Olivier Rousteig as head designer for the Balmain house is consolidating itself as one of the most prominent in the history of the brand.

Atmosphere BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (3)

The style that Rousteig brings to his designs are instantly recognizable, as he masterfully brings together his own aesthetics with the inspiration from contemporary trends in the couture world. Also, since he started his career at the front of Balmain, his collections seem to have been evolving one into another, following a creative direction that draws a fine and particular mind from one year to another and that drag us into his artistic world. As we commented in the latest Balmain fashion shows, his Fall 2018 collection seemed to evolve into his Spring 2019 one, as if this last one was a continuation of he creative process in the one before. And this time we can appreciate the same continuity in his Fall 2019, with which he has gifted the world in this last Paris Fashion Week.

Atmosphere BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (2)

That is probably one of my favorite things about the work of Rousteig in Balmain, the continuity and the flowing artistry of his designs and collections. While other designers choose to pick very different inspirations and for each of their collections and follow completely different conceptual lines for each season (for example, Marc Jacobs comes to my mind in this aspect), Rousteig kindly guides us into the continuously evolving flow of style that is his work.

The Fashion Show

As always first of all, let’s enjoy the show, which is as stunning as always with that particular music selection that can only be from Balmain!

The Collection

The fashion show starts with some creations based on what will be the center of the collection: black. It is true that Olivier Rousteig always uses black as a main pillar for his collections, but in the particular case he has raised it to the category of the clear protagonist of the show. The influence of this color isn’t dimmed as in his latest collection by neon or holographic effects. The elegance shines through a masterful use of this color all through the collection.

The show starts by presenting a few designs where the main vehicle to present this ‘queen of colors’ as Pierre-Auguste Renoir defined it, is leather or wool, always studded or paired with transparencies, that remark even more the visual weight of bold pieces like oversized jackets.

Creations that are based on a unique type of fabric besides being monochrome also populate this collection. As the show develops and evolves, denim, another of Rousteig usual pillars, and white will start to appear to complement the statement that black makes.

BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (4)BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (5)

Shoes in this collection are mainly based in that leather and studs relationship that we mentioned before. Though we can see mainly boots, there are also a few sandal pieces that also combine patent leather or black velvet with silver and metallic appliances.

Soon, the combinations with white that we have mentioned also gain prominence, being combined mainly also with leather and denim.

A very particular concept resource that Rousteig uses to support this collection is as we have said before, combining the visual weight of bold pieces with transparencies. A characteristic trademark that we will see repeatedly is the mid openings in the pieces that will leave the waist, elbows, and even more frequently, the shoulders, exposed. This will be achieved either with plastics, see-through fabrics or directly with naked openings, that will emphasize the structure of the pieces.

Tweed will also appear as a central pillar of the collection, accompanying wool, and combinations of materials and effects will be interleaved with block outfits, such as denim ones.

At this point of the show we will see appear another of the chracteristic features of this collection: fabrics that are worked in the shape of floral references, specially roses or carnations. This is a collection where Rousteig has left aside the majority of his recently most used ‘special effects’ such as iridescent and holographic finishes or bold colors, but this embellishment will appear through the collection in many designs and is an innovation in his resources that is introduced in this collection.

Fringes, on the other hand, are a very used and common resource in his creations, and also appears in this collection combined with a great variety of fabric and finishes, nearly always in black or white.

BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (21)BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (22)

The two pieces above are in my opinion one of the most gorgeous of the collection. The combination of two of his most characteristic features, transparent plastic fabrics and studs, are combined here masterfully over the naked body or elegant white pieces, giving a great deal of boldness to the accessories such as belts or shoes. It is amazing how he recreates the concept of leather without using it, just alluding to it using the structure of plastic and the character of the studs.

Half way into the show, a few glimpses of color, mainly under saturated ones, are presented through the textures and fabrics used before. The floral/carnations designs are once again seen, and then mint and pastel purple take the place of black being the center of a few designs.

BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (28)

The colors are presented both in a uniformity of fabrics and also in combinations of them. I think this brief appearance of color is a small breath of fresh air into the collection. I doesn’t overshadow the importance of the elegance in the decision of keeping the collection mainly toned down, and still it adds a little lightness to it. We can observe how amazingly the effect of a design can change just changing the color of it: though the same resources are used, these pieces give a much more innocent and fresh appearance without losing any of the elegance.

In the final stretch of the show we are presented with some of the most stunning designs of the collection. Rousteig uses a few resources that he has prominently used through his work at the front of Balmain, such as lace, asymmetrical structured cuts and more transparencies.

Here are introduced the chest openings that are the center of quite a few of his final designs. Very bold pieces are often compensated with transparencies in the chest, which is a very distinctive characteristic of this particular collection in my opinion.

The effect achieved with this is frankly amazing and this last part of the show leaves us with a great sensation of couture raised to a higher level.

BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (37)

At the end of the show we see all the artistic resources used through the collection interlinked one more time, going back to black to close the circle that Rousteig drew with his creations. The most chic designs are seen in this final part, and the show closes in the most elegant way.

BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (41)

Sequins make an stellar appearance in these final creations, enhancing the chicness of the designs. Long capes are also prominent in this last pieces, as well as once again the openings in the waist area, asymmetries, combinations with patent leather, and white blouse fragments that are used as a complement for these stunning pieces.

BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (48)

All in all, this collection deviates from his last ones in the sense that elegance here bears an even greater significance.

I can see a lot of influence of the work of for example Thierry Mugler, in this conception of elegance as an otherworldly feature that must be honored, but I also appreciate an evolution within his own work, and many references to his own creations.

Olivier Rousteig without a doubt consolidates himself as a true haute couture designer with this collection, leaving aside all of his usual ‘special effects’ to focus on the solidity of the pieces.

A collection to be taken seriously.

Beauty

As usual, the focus on Balmain shows is on the pieces and models wear a natural, almost no makeup look not to steal the light of the designs. In this case anyhow, we can see the use of very minimalist accessories, mainly this metallic chain headband that is repeated in quite a few of the looks.

Skin doesn’t look either too matte or too dewy but perfectly balanced and radiant, which is a basic characteristic of Balmain fashion shows: models look perfectly flawless without using makeup as a creative statement, just letting it enhance their features and letting their natural and individual beauty shine through.

Beauty BALMAIN FALL 19 DEATHLESSVOGUE (7)

Another important feature of this show that is also an innovation in relation with the latest Balmain collection is the appearance of berets: these are used to emphasize the Parisian chicness of the pieces, using leather and studs to give boldness to the designs.

Overall, the look is like always fresh and polished.

Details, Accessories and Shoes

Here I have made a selection of the most important and beautiful detail shots that were made during the show.

I love to observe the final designs (that encompass the designs, the shoes and the accessories) in a closer way so I can appreciate all the passion and care that were put into their creation.

Most of the features that we have talked about can be further appreciated in these shots of an indisputable beauty.

We can also appreciate that, as well as in the outfits, leather and studs are the leiv motif that bring all the creations together through their use in the accessories such as bags, belts and shoes.

Plastic transparencies can be better appreciated and we discover that even more resources than the ones we initially noticed are used, for example these nearly iridescent sequins that are paired with denim here down below.

The freshness of the very few colors used, mint and pastel purple as we said, is even more appreciable when the whole effect that they create in combination with the choice of fabrics is observed closely.

Patent leather makes truly a bold statement that is conveyed perfectly with all the different textures that are given to it through the collection.

And that is all!

As we mentioned before this is a collection that followed the path that Rousteig himself was tracing in his last collections for Balmain but at the same times breaks with it taking his creations a step further with this truly unforgettable elegance statement.

I hope that you enjoyed this collection as much as I did and I expect to see you all really soon!
Lots of love.

Vitamasques: K-Beauty Brand and Products First Impressions

Hello everyone!
Today I bring you my first impressions about the English K-Beauty brand Vitamasques and a little bit of my opinion on skin care and how following a routine benefits both the physical condition of the skin and our mental well being.

The K-Beauty Philosophy

As I talked about in my last article, K-Beauty is all about enjoying the moment and making the most of your skin care routine. Skin care turns into the art of self care, where every second your spend going through your routine is a second you have for achieving inner peace and enjoy a pause away from the modern world.

I’m very happy to see that Western society is slowly taking these values as an example, and luckily now you can find European or American brands that are following the K-Beauty trend, and not only regarding the cute packaging and marketing. These brands are also encouraging the well being of their costumers, inspiring them to take this ‘self care’ routine seriously and offering products that allow them to sink into this routine in a conscious and motivational way.

I recently discovered the British brand Vitamasques, which is one of the above mentioned. Their products, which are mainly masks of diverse types, are designed following the lines of K-Beauty, not only regarding ingredients and packaging but also giving a lot of importance to that self care philosophy.
I have had the luck to be able to try this brand first hand and I want to share this little journey with you, so I’ll talk about my first impressions on the brand and products first and then I will try each one of them in a ‘skin care’ intensive when I will use one product per day and review all of them in another article, where I’ll give you my full opinion on the whole experience and the brand too, along with some conclusions on the importance and benefits of taking up the habit or transforming your skin care routine in an actual self care routine.

Vitamasques: The brand

Before my impressions I will let you know what Vitamasques has to say about itself as in their ‘About Us‘ section in their website:

“We’re a Korean-British brand pioneering affordable but effective skincare to the west. With our impeccable standards of production & design, we’re dedicated to ensuring our products are free-from as many things as possible, such as animal cruelty, parabens, mineral oils and sulphates.

We make our products with the latest innovations and technology straight from South Korea, with an emphasize of quality above all else.

Our no.1 priority is making sure our customers skin care is easy to use and affordable, while remaining effective.

The team is always pushing new formulations that are focused on getting rid of ‘negative’ ingredients and practices such as parabens, mineral oils, sulphates and animal cruelty . We’re also trying to make more products Vegan friendly too!”

I must say that besides being a shop, I find the Vitamasques website quite interesting and entertaining. You can clearly feel their passion for their brand and for what they offer. They have a ‘Skin Journal‘ section where articles about skin care and such can be found. For me, researching about what is good for your own skin is a very important step of taking up the K-Beauty philosophy, since each individual has their own necessities. Therefore, I’m always up for reading about skin care journeys, advice, reviews and what not, so having this section in their website is definitely a very positive point for me.

Also, they have another section called ‘Mask Finder‘ where they guide you through their products depending on what your skin concerns are and what you are looking for in a mask. Besides that, you can check out all of their products and recommendations in their shop section.

All in all the brand gives me a really positive vibe. As I have said before, the passion they have for K-Beauty is really noticeable and each product is designed with the greatest love. They want you enjoy using them as much as they did coming up with it and I think that’s simply great. Not many brands actually care about their costumers that much, and Vitamasques is definitely one of those.

It’s one of those brands that you feel good about supporting them, and that makes you rely on their products as much as in their passion.

Also mention that they have a physical store in London (you can find their exact location in their website), which I really wish I could visit, and that they have also a Youtube channel with tutorials, reviews and all kinds of useful and fun videos, along with other social media such a Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Masks Package: The products

I got a totally fantastic package where I could find a little bit of everything from the brand. It included a total of nine products, with sheet masks, sleep in masks, eye patches and much more among them, along with a super cute panda headband to make sure your hair is kept out of the way while you submerge yourself in the sacred time of the skin care routine.

Vitamasques DeathlessVogue

I will now show you each one of the Vitamasques products, using images and information  directly from their website so you can read the back of each one properly and know everything about them in case you are curious!

Will be back soon with those reviews so stay tuned for more!
Thank for reading and lots of love!

Versace Fall 2018 Ready-To-Wear Collection and Fashion Show

Today I bring you the Versace Fall 2018 Ready-To-Wear collection, where Donatella has done an outstanding work in reassuring her position as one of the greatest masters of fashion design. Versace is as you may know by now one of my most loved fashion houses, a surely one of the most iconic through the history of haute couture.

VERSACE DEATHLESS VOGUE (1)VERSACE DEATHLESS VOGUE (3)

As we talked about in the previous article about Versace, the previous collection that Versace launched (SS 2018) was a bomb was an outstanding work of art honoring the style and passion of the creator of the house, Gianni Versace. His sister Donatella, now vice president of Versace and chief designer or the brand, was the one that orchestrated this beautiful homage to one of the most creative and innovative brand in the history of fashion design. The show and the collection were a startling success, and we were all really expectant about Donatella’s next move after such an unique revelation.

And she sure impressed everyone when she went back to her purest style in a stunning new collection that honors her own creativity as much as the last one honored the one of her brother.

The Clans of Versace

No wonder about why the collection was called ‘The Clans of Versace’, because at this point, Versace is the royal family of couture and this was the time for the queen. A lot of the pillars of the Versace imaginery are present in this collection that combines classicism with modernity in a magnificent way. Classic lines and materials are contrasted with highly pigmented primary colors, patterns, plaid, accessories and a lot of trends of the moment.
The personal trademark met modernism. And it was astounding.

But let’s see the whole collection, enjoy the show!

Classicism

The classical line of this collection is expressed in muted downs nude brown colors, always so associated with fall and elegance. The use of leather, metal accessories (primary gold) and fine fabric remind us of the less excessive side of the concept. These colors and material will continue to appear in the collection as a leif motiv of classicism through Donatella’s different creations.

Plaid

These two will almost always will be accompanied by the star of the show: plaid in primary colors that will steal the light in designs where bright yellow is a form of gold.

Primary Colors

The primary colors derive are built into different designs and the plaid will even turn monochrome leaving yellow aside in some stunning pieces.

Black leather and Gold: the Belt

One of the main accessories and center of part of the collection is a Versace icon: the belt. Black leather and gold, the classical importance of this piece will be of high importance again, a pillar of the Versace imaginery.

Two of my favorite creations were these two belt-centered beauties of a design, two black dresses that speak Versace and couture so loud that it’s hard to resist. The elegance of these two looks is just sublime.

Silk, Patters, Satin and Corsets

Silk drapes also had a leading role in the collection. Colorful patterns full of pop art references and animal print are places over luxurious fabric with a great femininity to it. The corset, another pillar, makes its first appearance in a sultry skirt over a Versace white t-shirt. Plaid and corsets rule this fantasy of designs unified by the emblematic Versace belt.

Luxury and Sultryness: the Artistry

These classical luxurious designs give the welcome to the show a the most exquisite part of the collection. Sultriness is now a must.

All the show is transformed into an even more exquisite state. Every theme used in the collection till now is masterfully mix together to bring the most stunning looks of the show.

These last two looks are also one of my favorites of the whole collection, as they express they whole concept in an exquisite way. Primary colors in gorgeous fabrics and finishes are hugged by black and luxury. Belts and shoes. I have to say that this is the collection with which Donatella has made history for me. She already proved her amazing artistry and creative power in her last collection, which as you may know by now I considered art. But not only that, she has had the ability to change directions completely after that and still amaze us with the path she followed.

This whole collection is simply stunning and at the same time it has a unity spirit, a deep belief in the concepts over which it is built. It’s sultry, it’s exquisite, it’s Versace. It’s art. The title of the collection ‘The Clans of Versace’ implies to me that she honored and presented her brother before, and now she is presenting her side, the other part of Versace. All in all I find it a very intelligent twist after the last collection and an absolutely amazing work of art. Everything is just so classy and unique. It has the Versace signature written across every piece.

Accessories and Shoes

This has been one of the very few fashion shows / collections in which I also fall in love with a lot of the accessories, including (and specially) shoes of course. It was obvious that, being the belt one of the most iconic elements of the house, the accessories in Versace collections are always important, but these ones had my heart. A lot of leather, either in elegant high heels, platforms or heeled boots, with metallic attachments that speak of an aggressive femininity, power and control.

The details and the love put into the design of every accessory is as intricate and delicate as in the outfits. The shoes are just beyond elegance for me and I probably love every pair in the collection, which is not really usual.

And that’s it, the collection looked wonderful to me, it really makes me fall in love even harder with the house and when that happens you know it was a good collection.

Beauty

As usual, they use very natural looking makeup, something that make the models look flawless but that doesn’t distract the attention from the creations. The classical middle parting with the front pieces of hair tucked behind the ears or neck was also seen really often in this show, I hairstyle that now I love to call the ‘Versace’ because they use it so much and it looks so elegant and simple.

The makeup and hair all in all let the magic of the collection, including jewelry, shine through.

And that was all! I really hope you enjoyed this collection as much as me, I really wish I could sport even the cheaper pair of shoes of this collection but that is not happening any time soon. Even though, they were astounding!

I hope to see you around here soon, thank you for reading!

The Year Korea Kicked In: A Reflection on Korean Beauty

Today I bring you a quite different post.
Since I finally got into Korean beauty, I’ve been thinking a lot about the cosmetics and beauty industry and how it is perceived and used in society differently in the western and eastern cultures. So I wanted to share a few thoughts on it in this post, which is more on the reflection side than in the practical side.

Anyway, fear not, because I have an article about the Versace Fall 18 Fashion Show and a Sephora Haul coming soon for those of you who like a little more action!

And now let’s get into the subject.

KOREAN BEAUTY DEATHLESS VOGUE 1

In a world and society dominated by media and social interactions, everything has been accelerated and made fit for consumption till the point that human beings are being literally objectified as one more product to keep the wheel of capitalism turning.

Beauty, in what we know as the first world, has left their complicated and rigid beauty standards to become directly one more packaging made of plastic that is sold to us through all our senses in everyday life, and we have to take and wear if we want to be a part of that fabulous and dazzling constellation that is the system. While minorities and collectives are fighting more than ever for the acceptance of every culture, appearance, mental disposition, sexual preference, nationality, identity and everything else, the media is responding in an way as extreme as they could have fought back. Humans, and therefore beauty, is no longer a product of nature but of the human race itself, and like always, those who have the money also have the power.

What I mean by all this is that cosmetics procedures, surgeries and looking all the same is ‘trending’ (kind of wishing that turning humans into dolls could never be a trend) more than ever. Surgery has always been there and has always been kind of addictive to those who submitted themselves to it, but now, the fever is as high as ever and we all know what the goal of every average woman (that fits into the profile of beauty standards victim and has the money to become one) is: to look as plasticky as they can till it no longer even feels right or healthy.
For me, I must say that it is really disheartening to see interesting (and not interesting) women reach the fame (or wanting to reach it) just to start filling their lips and faces just to make makeup look better.
Makeup is no longer used to enhance features, but features are ‘enhanced’ (or say better destroyed) to glorify makeup. High cheekbones to make that highlighter pop, lips filled like a balloon so liquid lipsticks appear smooth as they can, pointy noses to match those highlighted cheekbones, high and pointy eyebrows that are later filled and fixed, and spacious eyelids to show off those cut creased looks that advertise eye shadow palettes more than a billboard.

You may think it sounds too harsh but it’s just how reality is, though it is sad.

In the middle of all this western capitalist madness, I realized that Korean beauty has become such a kind and ‘viral’ trend to follow for one reason: it takes people back to thinking that their natural beauty should be treasured and taken care of instead of erasing it to implement a new one in place of the one they were born with.

KOREAN BEAUTY DEATHLESS VOGUE 2

Korean beauty has that ritualistic nature that soothes our souls while also being part of the consumerism industry (it would be naive not to think so). What I mean is that this kind of industry is the nicer side of a coin that we are bored to try to resemble.

Faces and features are not used in Korean beauty to make the most of products, but on the other hand, products are used to preserve and take care of those, surely also in a highly addictive way that will also imply its own risks and that probably will end in cosmetic procedures too, but at least the philosophy is different. And I think that it has have such a tremendous success precisely because we are tired of the stress and the pressure of western trends. It is an industry too, of course, but one that changes the game we have been playing for so long.

Korean Beauty takes back that traditional feature of beauty where it was a ritual one followed to feel and look better. While in western beauty standards the individual no longer matters and three hours of hair, makeup and choosing outfits leave you feeling equally or more empty than before, Korean beauty uses that calmness that we are so desperate for to build their way to success. And if I have to choose, as many people have thought too, I prefer to give my time and my money to an industry that at least take the time to make it look (or to really do) like they care about the health and well being of each person.
What I mean is, if they make it look that way that well, I highly prefer it to what western industry is expecting from me.

Just in case there is some people that haven’t taken a look into what the Korean beauty madness is about, it is all about looking healthy, young, and preserving that health and youth as much as you can. The main concern is not makeup (though of course there is a use of it) but skin care, and self care in general since that ritual side of beauty is highly exploited in it. And it is a good exploitation, I mean, in beauty industry you are always going to find strict standards that are not really looking after your well being but after their benefits, but if I have to choose between the philosophy of glorifying makeup and silicone and fake nails and wigs and fake lashes and fake everything, and the one of spending more and more time taking care of myself in an endless routine of skin care products, I will surely choose the second one.

KOREAN BEAUTY DEATHLESS VOGUE 3

Industries are never kind, but I think that the success of Korean beauty in the western society as well, is based on that people have finally found a trend in which they feel good about themselves and where they can finally rest of trying to look completely different that themselves. An endless skin care routine at least allows you to take that time for yourself and think and enjoy the moment freely, without worrying about the end result, because it is probably going to be going to bed and have a good night sleep, not having to worry about looking perfectly fake for whatever hours you have to face social interactions as it is in the western world.

I think that this is mainly what I wanted to share, though I could sure go on writing about it for much longer, but my conclusion is:
Korean beauty and Asian beauty trends in general have succeeded so much, and I foresee an even greater success, in the western society because they are an escape from the beauty standards of the western industry that we are so tired to try to fit it. They are a change. They allow us time to breathe and reconnect with ourselves. And sure they are an industry too, and as it is happening already, one that western society will swallow and turn into a money making machine for their own benefit too, but at least their philosophy was different. At least, allow me to think even if it’s too innocent an idea, they intentions were good. And probably nothing is going to make me think that the intentions behind lip fillers were good too.

And that’s why this past year, it finally kicked in for me too, probably because it was also the time that even I needed to escape, and I finally gave into the Korean beauty trend because, opposite of what we are accustomed to, it felt right.

I hope this served both as a reflection and as an introduction for the Korean beauty posts to come from this point on, and, also I hope, for a greater concern in general about self care.

For a New Year when we matter more than what is meant to embellish us.

Thank you for reading and see you soon!

Shiny Pretty Things Collection: Top 10 Mac Cosmetics Products for this Holidays 2018

Let’s know which MAC Cosmetics products are the stars of this holidays!

If you read the summer version of this post, you might have been wondering what of this year’s holiday collection products from MAC Cosmetics are the ones that you urgently need to purchase before they are gone. MAC Cosmetics is well known for their amazing seasonal collections and collaborations and this year they have definitely rocked our jingle bells with the Shiny Pretty Things collection.

TOP 10 MAC HOLIDAYS 2018 DEATHLESSVOGUE

This collection has been a delight to see all over media and in their stores, a wonderful combination of disco, technicolor and frosted snowflakes wrapped in bright metallic shades. The concept has been ‘Shine like a Disco Ball’ a not without a reason!

I myself have fallen pretty hard for this collection and this top ten is not just the most beautiful and unique products of their collection but my actual recommendations after having tried and loved this collection that will make history for me as the first one that conquered my heart all the way through and not just from outside.

That means, that in this occasion I will also share some of my own pictures and looks that you can find in my Instagram.

Are you ready to see the ten best products of this collection? Don’t let the holidays end without getting yourself your little stash of Christmas lights and sparkly nights till next holidays!

1. Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Snowflushed or Oh Darling

Highlighter has been one of the strong points this holidays. Shiny Pretty Things are shiny and pretty and that says it all. The collection had two amazing highlighters with different hues and finishes that came both in an amazing packaging and with an embossed gift bow that made the delight of the Christmas lovers.

The rosy one, Snowflushed, was a shade particularly created for this collection, an incredibly beautiful duochrome champagne pink that turned gold and copper with some amazing magenta undertones depending on the lightning. For me, this highlighter was truly unique and this is one of the products that I needed to get. The finish is simply awesome and I would say that if you are only going to get one single product from the whole collection, this is the one you are looking for.

EXTRA DIMENSION SKINFINISH SHINY PRETTY THINGS OH DARLINGTOP 10 MAC HOLIDAYS 2018 DEATHLESSVOGUE

Oh Darling is a soft gold with a much more fluid finish, giving you an almost wet appearance. It is a gorgeous highlighter and this one is part of their regular line, so I wouldn’t stress too much about getting this one unless it is already one of your favorites and you need it in the special packaging. Anyway, if you don’t have a budget and can spend all that you want or if you want it for a gift, it is indeed a beautiful soft gold shade and a wonderful highlighter that will turn heads.

🌟 Oh Darling or Snowflushed? 🌟 The most lovely highlighters from @maccosmetics #ShinyPrettyThings collection! I thought I was going to love only Snowflushed since it’s more pinky hued and duochromatic, but after seeing the festive super metallic fine shimmer of the golden Oh Darling up close I think I will have to get it too! Which one is your favorite? I wish you all a happy Thursday! . . . . . . . @macvelazquez @maccosmetics_es @maccosmeticsuk @maccosmeticsrussia @maccosmeticsaustralia @maccosmeticsfrance #maccosmetics #maccosmetics_es #macobsessed #macshinyprettythings #snowflushed #ohdarling #macmakeup #macmakeupaddict #highlighterjunkie #highlighteraddict #makeupvideos #maccosmeticsrussia #maccosmeticsuk #makeupvids #holidaymakeup #holidays2018 #blackfridaymakeup #blackfriday2018 #kirakiramakeup #instamakeupartist #sparklymakeup #holidaysmakeup #festivemakeup #christmasmakeup #holidays2018 #shinymakeup #deathlessvogue

2. Face Compact Palette

This one is not only beautiful but also really practical. This collection came with two face palettes, in lighter and darker versions, with highlighter, blush and bronzer. You get to try three amazing products in one and you also get to enjoy the festive packaging and embossing. Definitely a must to carry in your handbag at parties or to give as a present to your best friend. There’s little more that you can need than this!

3. Pink Glow Getter Set

Her comes another of my favorites. I still haven’t got it but if I can find it I definitely will. In this amazing set you get an embossed highlighter in a travel size version (can it be any cuter?), a matching Strobe Cream and (the best part for me) a MAC cheek brush in a wonderful portable size that will make you get the perfect glow in two simple steps.

This set came in both a pink and a gold version, so you can choose your favorite undertone to go with.  I always tend to pink ones so this is the one of my wish list, but I repeat it, the brush makes this set a perfect gift and you need to get it if you are into the glow trend. MAC Cosmetics is not only know for the quality of their makeup but also for the great efficiency of their tools and brushes. If you are like me and you have never been able to afford a MAC brush, let this one be your first and glow to the infinite!

TOP 10 MAC HOLIDAYS 2018 DEATHLESSVOGUETOP 10 MAC HOLIDAYS 2018 DEATHLESSVOGUE

I also have to say that though they come with the embossing, these highlighter shades are both of their regular line, so if you fall in love don’t worry! You’ll be able to restock them if you need to keep glowing.

4. Shiny Pretty Lipglass in Rosebuddy

If I had to name a MAC product that is amazingly shiny and amazingly pretty besides highlighters, it would have to be the lipglasses. If you have never tried a lipglass, they are MAC versions of your regular gloss, but taken to the maximum expression. MAC lipglasses have a shine like you have never seen before, and the amount of shimmer, glitter and everything is all you ever needed in a gloss. Say goodbye to regular lip glosses, welcome to Wonderland.

The Shiny Pretty Things collection undoubtedly had to have some special shades for this Christmas, and if I had to pick just one it would be Rosebuddy. There’s no color like red for Christmas and though all the lipglasses in the collection were stunning, this was the most unique and different from the others one. Sure there were some pink and champagne ones that were absolutely gorgeous (like the bright pink Tudor Rose), but you could find shades similar to those in the regular line. On the other hand, you definitely couldn’t find such a perfectly elegant glittery and glossy red lip.

TOP 10 MAC HOLIDAYS 2018 DEATHLESSVOGUETOP 10 MAC HOLIDAYS 2018 DEATHLESSVOGUE

With this one I fell too, just because the reasons I just mentioned. It was too unique a shade to let it pass and I’m a crazy fan of glitter and gloss (because they are shiny and they are pretty). I couldn’t be happier with my decision of going with this shade. The multidimensional gold glitter and the red tint give your lips a look that once you see it on you, you won’t be able to let go.

🥀🌹 Roses 🌹🥀 Happy #MACMonday!!! These two are for me the most stunning glosses of the @maccosmetics #ShinyPrettyThings collection, and they are indeed shiny and pretty! They are Rosebuddy (top) and Tudor Rose (bottom), from which I only got the red one after negotiating a bit with myself because the pink one, though it is clearly stunning, is very similar to the shade Funtabulous which I already own! Tomorrow I have a break from my exams so I hope to find time to do some looks and spend some time here with you ✨ Hope you all have had an amazing Monday! . . . . . . . @maccosmetics_es @maccosmeticsrussia @macvelazquez @maccosmeticsaustralia @macjunkies #macmondays #maccosmetics #maccosmetics_es #macshinyprettythings #maclipglass #maccollection #maclipgloss #macjunkies #limitededitionmakeup #pinklipgloss #makeuppost #makeupphotography #instamakeuplovers #macobsessed #macaddict #macmakeup #macmakeupaddict #macobsession #slave2makeup #instamakeupblogger #makeupjunkies #glittermakeup #christmasmakeup #maccosmeticsrussia #lipglass #maclips #maclipslipslips #deathlessvogue

5. Shiny Pretty Lipstick in Straight Fire

Metallics are in and the frost finish is the new trend. If you have any doubts about it, check all the latest makeup launches of the holidays, take for example the Marc Jacobs Beauty Leopard Frost collection. The name says it all.

MAC obviously was not going to be less and the Shiny Pretty Things collection included five different shades of lipstick, which from them two were Frost and one was Metallic. Guess which one was my pick for this top ten.

As I said with the lipglass, nothing says Christmas like a good red and nothing says I’m ready to start 2019 like a good metallic. Straight Fire gives you everything you need of a lipstick bullet for this holidays and the year to come.

Though I was able to try and use this one to create some lovely lip looks, I sadly didn’t purchase it, but if I find it still available I sure will!

✨🔥Baby I’m a house on fire, And I wanna keep burning🔥✨ Happy #MACMonday! Today I’ve finally been able to see and try the #ShinyPrettyThings collection and oooh my. It is gorgeous. I would have taken every single item with me if I could afford that. The eyeshadows are a DREAM and some of the glosses OMG I just can’t even describe them, you’ll have to see them here soon. And the highlighters. I’m dead, literally dead. From today on, for me it’s officially Christmas. I did this lip art at the store using the ‘Straight Fire’ Lipstick topped with the Extra Dimension Skinfinish in ‘Snowflushed’ and some ‘Major Win’ Eye Shadow, all from the holiday collection. I ABSOLUTELY recommend to you all to go to a store as soon as you can and swatch everything because no matter how many pictures I can take, it still won’t make the collection justice. Anyhow you know I’ll be posting about it like crazy so I really hope you like it! ✨ . Y como siempre muchísimas gracias al personal de @macvelazquez por ser el más profesional y agradable que he conocido, por dejarme ir alli a trastear y por hacerme sentir siempre como en casa, sois los mejores ♥️♥️♥️ . . . . . . . @maccosmetics @maccosmetics_es #macshinyprettythings #snowflushed #majorwin #macholiday2018 #maccosmetics #maccosmetics_es #straightfire #maclips #macgirls #macjunkies #machighlighter #editorialmakeup #avantgardemakeup #lipswatch #lipart #instamakeupartist #instamakeuplovers #macaddict #slave2makeup #deathlessvogue

✨❄️It’s cold outside❄️✨ These are some of the wonderful products that I tried yesterday from @maccosmetics #ShinyPrettyThings collection, and particularly are the ones I mostly used for yesterday’s lip art. I am completely in love with the Extra Dimension Skinfinish Highlighter in ‘Snowflushed’ from this collection, which I already had my on, but I must say that the ‘Straight Fire’ Lipstick was a lovely surprise. The color is an absolutely festive shade of crimson, with cold undertones and a metallic finish that leaves your lips as lovely as a a red Christmas bow. Though I used it for the lip arts I did (there are more coming!) I didn’t buy it at the end (for now) because I wanted to control my festive spending euphoria. I obviously got the Snowflushed Highlighter because I fell for it the first time I saw it on Instagram and it was love a first sight, so yeah, I got that one so you’ll see more of it soon ✨ All in all, I’ll post what I exactly bought pretty soon but I just wanted to show you how pretty this pair looked! Are you going to pick something from this collection? I hope you all had a great Sunday and see you soon with more! ✨ . . . . . . . @maccosmetics_es @macvelazquez @maccosmeticsuk @maccosmeticsrussia @macjunkies @maccosmeticsjapan @maccosmeticsfrance @maccosmeticscanada @maccosmeticsaustralia @maccosmeticsdeutschland @maccosmeticsitalia @maccosmeticsnl @maccosmeticsbelgium #macshinyprettythings #macsnowflushed #snowflushed #machighlighter #maclips #maclipstick #macstore #maccosmetics #maccosmetics_es #macmakeup #instamakeupartist #instamakeuplovers #highlighterjunkie #highlighteronfleek #highlighteronpoint #redlipstick #straightfire #slave2makeup #maclipsticks #deathlessvogue

6. Rose Eye Palette

Two palettes were released for this collection, one with blue shades and one with pink shades. Like I have said before, I always tend to go for pink shades though I’m aware that as much as I tend to avoid it, blue is a stunning color that suits most of the people, so I can say that both palettes were absolutely gorgeous and a good product to get if you want to achieve a dazzling party-ready look with just one product (since they also include a double ended brush). But for me, if you had to pick only one of the palettes, the pink one had to be that one. Reds and burgundy are the post party drama suitable colors, and the soft and deep browns ensure you end up achieving a show stopping smokey eye or a monochromatic technicolor look: you choose!

The versatility of this palette makes it a must that you would be able to keep using and loving far past the holidays and all throughout the year.

7. Shiny Pretty Eyeshadow in Major Win or Make a

Wish

MAC hit the jackpot with these eyeshadows and if you have seen them swatched or someone wearing them, you know what I am talking about. The sparkle effect is so amazing that the finish looks wet. It’s like fairy dust made eyeshadow.

All of the shades of this collection have that stunning effect, but if I had to pick the most unique ones, I would say Major Win and Make a Wish.

SHINY PRETTY EYE SHADOW MAJOR WIN 3

Major Win has a duochrome effect similar to the one in Snowflushed, in fact I would say that they are a perfect pain. It is like a copper/rose shade that turns more marron glacé or more silver depending on the lightning. If you are only going to pick one, this is it, you won’t regret it.

I belong to that probably not small group of people who fell under the spell or Major Win, and though I have used it to create a few looks, the one that I purchase still remains untouched because it is so pretty that it would actually take some time for me to bring myself to start using it (Snowflushed had the same effect on me!).

✨🌟Major Win🌟✨ Happy #MACMonday lovely people! Here you have one of the stunning eyeshadows of the #ShinyPrettyThings collection from @maccosmetics. They have an incredible finish far more dazzling than the Dazzleshadows or than anything I’ve ever seen. They are so sparkly and the particles are so fine that it looks almost wet. You’ll see what I’m talking about when I post a look with this one!!! I think it will be perfect for a glossy look ✨ Also this and the green one (which I didn’t get yet) are my favorite shades of the collection, though all of them are really pretty, Major Win is the one that has a most chromatic feel to it. What do you think about this collection? Any particular item that caught your attention? I hope you all are having a fantastic Monday! . . . . . . . @maccosmetics_es @maccosmeticsuk @maccosmeticscanada @maccosmeticsrussia @maccosmeticsaustralia @maccosmeticsjapan @maccosmeticsnl @maccosmeticsitalia @maccosmeticsfrance @maccosmeticsdeutschland @maccosmeticsbrasil @maccosmeticsturkiye @maccosmeticsindia @macjunkies @macvelazquez @macjunkies #maccosmetics #majorwin #mac217 #maccosmetics_es #maceyeshadow #limitededitionmakeup #majorwineyeshadow #holidays2018makeup #holidays2018 #makeupvideo #kirakiramakeup #makeuppost #instamakeupartist #makeupproducts #macobsession #makeupvideos #instamakeuplovers #instamakeupblogger #instavideos #macmondays #maccosmeticsrussia #maccosmeticsitalia #maccosmeticsuk #deathlessvogue

If I had to pick another eyeshadow shade after Major Win, it would definitely be Make a Wish. This is probably the most directly Christmassy since it is of a beautiful pine green shade but with a great metallic finish and a silver sparkle that will make you fall in love. The amazing that this would look paired with Straight Fire or Rosebuddy on the lips is what made me choose this one as a must. Green and red are always a winning combination, but this one is just better!

8. Mini Glitter and Pigments Pink Set

If you are a lover of glitter, bold looks and disco, this set was made for you. And it was for sure made for me. Fuchsia, purple, glitter, holographic effects, iridescence… this set has it all. Though this set also came in a gold version with shades more on the nude side, I had to pick this pink version for obvious reasons.

TOP 10 MAC HOLIDAYS 2018 DEATHLESSVOGUE

As I know that my preferences are not the ones of everybody, I can’t say it objectively, but for me, this is the best product in the whole collection.

MAC glitter and pigments are one of the best products of the brand in my opinion and this selection is just beyond stunning. Also the size of the containers is actually bigger than the usual travel sizes, which was a really pleasant surprise!

For me, no top ten is complete without a dark lip. And if you have a set that includes a lip scrub, a lip primer, and a dark matte liquid lipstick, I’m all in. The collection came with a lot of sets with combinations of products that were more than convenient to have, but this one is just indispensable.

With this set, you can actually make a bold statement without wearing anything else but this. The lipstick shade is stunning enough to not need anything else to be the center of attention, and the scrub and primer will leave you lips feeling and looking so good that the lipstick will be just the cherry on top of the cake.

The shade that they chose for this kit is gorgeous, and that deserved a separate note.

10. Lip Kit

If you were waiting for the collector’s item, this is it.

This set was so good last year that they had to bring it back, and I support that decision. It had such a success that though I’ve spent the whole year drooling over this kit on Instagram, when I went to actually purchase it, it was sold out.

Not only you get ten different lipstick shades that can cover your needs for the whole holidays and the whole year, but you can carry them home in the most stunning packaging ever, a metallic rainbow of pinks, mauves, reds, nudes and purple that fantastically match each shade.

So pretty that you won’t be able to just take one to the party, you’ll need to carry all of them!

I hope that you enjoyed this top ten and that you feel inspired to get some of these beauties before they are gone.

Take a little bit of this holidays with you till the next ones with this amazing collection and never regret spending your money on it!

I really hope that you all had a holiday as dazzling and amazing as this collection.

Balmain Spring 2019 Ready To Wear Collection

We all remember the latest Balmain collection.

A dream of holographic neon dreams embodied into metallic elegance. It was one of my favorite fashion shows ever, along with the Spring Summer 2016 collection from Marc Jacobs or the legendary tribute that Versace made to its own creator in 2018. Olivier Rousteig channeled all of french glamour into a disco heaven and the illusion dazzled among us for months. The amazing trend breathed through funky music and synthesizers and started to evolve. And again for the new season, in the latest Paris Fashion week on September, he brought us a new show were his vision became alive again.

_DSC9441

Olivier and Balmain

Olivier Rousteig has that ability that not everybody will consider something positive but that is actually quite effective in the crafting of a fashion concept. He knows what to capture from each trend that is brought on by every creator and collective, and makes his on tribute to it in his collections.

Also I think that if the previous Spring Summer collection and the Fall Winter 2018 one were a little bit more disconnected between them, this one is a perfect follow up of the latest collection. You can clearly see that holographic disco dream evolving into more light textures, softer colors and more translucent or transparent crystal like creations. He manages to almost fit both collection into one unique season-evolving work of art, the year of the glam.
Since this is I think a really remarkable characteristic of this collection – its deep relation with the previous one – I’m going to pose this article a little bit differently. Not only this collection seems like an evolution of the previous one, but within it the different concepts seem a lot more related to each other, and you can see the contrasting inspirations blend into each other in a carousel of perfectly matching influences.

But first of all and as always, let’s appreciate the show itself in its full glory and then we’ll proceed to discuss the more iconic pieces of this astounding collection.
Enjoy!

The Fashion Show

The 28th of September 2018 at 11:30 a.m. local time, took place the presentation of the Balmain Spring Ready-To-Wear 2019 collection during the Paris Fashion Week.

As always, the elegant and minimalist staging, in that beautiful and already known to all lounge that breathes of Versailles influence with its mirrors, columns and chandeliers, was the key to presenting this collection in a perfect way, where each item is a work of art itself from which you can’t take your eyes off.

Let’s dive into the Parisian chic magic of this incredible show.

The Looks and Inspirations

The show opens up with a fierce entrance by Cara Delevingne, who I must say it’s not of my favorite models but does an amazing job here at starting the show lip syncing to the amazing ‘When Doves Cry‘ by Prince, that started before the show in its cover version by Quindon Tarver . I’m not a big fan of hers but I’m definitely a fan of spectacle and attitude and this moment set ups the mood for the whole show majestically. Her outfit its the pure embodiment of her attitude, an armored metallic top that we’ll see different versions of during the show and man suit cut dream of white satin that flows behind her as a royal cape. The outrageous femininity of the Balmain army is at its peak from the moment the show starts.

Iridescence and White

The first row of creations are an ode to white in all its possible textures and shapes. We see flowing satin, transparencies, and geometric constructions and patterns that either fit the body’s figure or create and entire different volume itself. Where we had a bold and dark holographic statement in the last collection, we have here the luminosity of iridescence.

Metallic finishes are also present in accessories and garments, always in silvery or cold shades that compliment perfectly the purity and versatility of white. Also we can see some asymmetric designs that combine the impression of more than one cut or texture at the same time.

Egypt and Paris

Then the show develops into a tribute to the Egyptian civilization. This will come in the form of marbled patterns, over black and white grays that remind of the stones used for their monumental constructions, also using different finishes to embellish the pieces. Later on, this influence will become as clear as hieroglyphics patterns over more classic textures like cotton or wool, may I say I guess even linen to carry the tribute to the next level, as ‘Another One Bites the Dust‘ by Queen starts playing.

Here we may quote what Olivier Rousteig himself said about this collection:

“It’s Paris meets Egypt, because every morning when I wake up I see the Obélisque on La Concorde, and the Pyramide du Louvre… I think it’s really important to mention that so much of the beauty of Paris is in its history, and its history is not only what we call French.”

Denim Armor

Denim makes it first appearance on the show accompanied by more of these iconic armors that also remind of a Cleopatra inspired aesthetic. The pointy shoulder pads keep plaguing the designs, making a bold statement of power and elegance.

The denim appears washed out, torn and worn out, combining it with some polished pieces of a meticulously treated finish, like gauze or sequins. I’m particularly fond of the use of super light, almost white denim that appears strategically bleached, specially in a jacket that you can see below and that is one of my favorite pieces of the whole collection.

Nudes and Pastels

After a brief interlude of white, the nude colors start to appear with different textures and effects. The shades chosen are much more powdery and blushed that the ones of the last collection, giving a more appropriate feeling for spring. Reflecting garments and soft finishes like velvety textures and leather are all over these pieces, playing with gradients of tones and fabrics to put together the most elegant looks of the collection.

The nude shades then blend into pastel colors that still say ‘Balmain’ with every inch of its geometry. Where we had neons over black for the past fall, we have now a delightful combination of minty greens, pale pinks, salmons and washed out blues, that once again are combined with denim and with the metallic accessories that are always the leif motiv of Olivier Rousteig collections.

For me, this metallic obsession becomes specially appealing when it’s in the form wonderfully reflecting and dazzling shattered mirror form, sometimes achieving the category of angelic disco ball armor. The beauty of these pieces is simply astonishing.

Geometric Classicism

After that the collection arrives to a point where it retrieves the most classical lines of fashion. Pieces in fabrics that remind those of the most classic Chanel designs, in simple but elegant black and white. Anyhow, in spite of this classical inspiration, the shapes and cuts of the pieces adopt one more time the characteristic geometry of Olivier Rousteig designs, going back from time to time to this ethereal concept of asymmetry.

The most remarkable designs of this row are for me these two below, where we can see the now almost traditional Balmain dress cut in intricate patterns that remind of empty 3D spaces and models.

Structure and Texture

To end the show, the black and white line of creation keeps being expanded and developed into multiple different designs and pieces that use the combination of textures and finishes to achieve an elegant but transgressive visual impact.

Playing around with this concepts, always faithful to his style, the collection and the show is finished impeccably.

Bravo!

Details

Here we can see the details of the designs more closely.

Plastic garments such as the original handbags and high heeled shoes are present all through the collection, often combined with metallic finishes, crystals and synthetic transparencies.

Beauty

To draw attention to the impressive creations, the beauty department behind Balmain’s show chose once again a very clean and polished makeup for the models. The idea is to achieve a perfectly flawless and natural looking skin full of youth and health, with very subtle colors that create almost a no-makeup makeup look that let the outfits shine through.

The same concept is applied to the hair, were you can see it is almost always polished pulled back or left to naturally flow around in a side parting, not to steal the thunder from the collection.

All our attention is drawn to the fashion creations in a masterfully way.

And that is all for now!

I really hope you enjoyed this collection and that you can take some inspiration from it for next spring. I personally enjoy a lot that Olivier Rousteig chose to expand the disco inspiration that he followed in his last collection with a lighter and brighter twist in this one. I expect

Studio Fix Fluid Foundation from MAC Review

Hello once again! I bring you today the review of the Studio Fix Fluid foundation from MAC Cosmetics!

Last Friday I was really thinking about getting this super famous MAC foundation that everybody seem to love, since I love the way my skin looks when they do my makeup at the store and let me try new things. However, from ones of this visits I still had a little sample of this foundation. So, I finally decided to do a full test and review using the sample I had (which was very very generous), evaluating the Studio Fix Fluid foundation fully before deciding to buy one.

Also, as you might already know for my Top 10 Mac Cosmetics Products for this Summer 2018 article, Mac is one of my favorite makeup brands ever.

Studio Fix Fluid Foundation Review MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUEStudio Fix Fluid Foundation Review MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

The Product

The Studio Fix Fluid foundation is, along with the Face and Body foundation, one of the most popular ones from MAC Cosmetics. It claims to have a medium to high buildable coverage foundation, that helps control excess oil with a matte finish. It also has SPF 15 which is something I really like in case I forget my daily protection.

This foundation also reduces the appearance of pores, has a long wear finish for 24 hours, and also claims to be “perfect for photographies’. The Studio Fix Fluid foundation is also famous for its 57 shades, among which you can find a tone that adjusts perfectly to your skin. It is specially recommended for oily skin though it really is suitable for all skin types.

The Review

I had been matched with the shade 20NW and received a generous sample to test it out. The first time I tried it, I applied it in the morning, having washed my face with Coalface soap from Lush Cosmetics and moisturized my skin with some Million Dollar Moustuzier (a really great one that I wish they would bring back) that I had left. I applied it as it is advised, placing small dots of product in the checks, forehead, nose and chin, and then blending them out with a wet Beauty Blender.

Studio Fix Fluid Foundation Review MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUEStudio Fix Fluid Foundation Review MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

The finish is really amazing, and applying it this way you boost the natural and dewy finish that will dry up to be a perfectly fitting matte shade. I usually would finish off spraying some Fix Plus over my makeup, but since I wanted to test the foundation and see it real finish and the Fix Pluses that I had were of a particular finish (Pinklite and Matte), I skipped this step.

Since I don’t usually wear makeup on my everyday, I just wore the foundation and didn’t add any other product on top (I will usually go for blush as a first chance), to see how it worked on its own.

The shade, as I already knew, seemed a little bit darker or warmer than what I actually needed, but it blended really well with the rest of my body. The finish application and blending were really comfortable and easy. I absolutely love the way the Studio Fix Fluid foundation smells, it has a scent that really reminds me of some Clinique products. It it is a subtle but intense perfume, and it all kind of forms the whole ‘Studio Fix Fluid’ experience. The coverage is really nice, high but without looking unnatural, perfectly adapted to my skin shade and complexion.

The results

Even though I didn’t set it with any sprays, it still stayed transfer-proof and even for the whole day, approximately 12 hours between when I applied it and when I removed it. It wears out a little if you spend your day forgetting that you had any makeup on and putting sweaters on and off. I sincerely think that this foundation would be as unmovable as it can get if you too it with some good fixing spray. I would definitely go for the Fix Plus in Matte finish, and then use some highlighter where I thought I needed to ‘glow’.

It also stayed matte and with a nice finish even when it started wearing off, evenly and naturally, not with patches. It all made me really get my right shade figured out and buy one as soon as possible.

Though it’s quite pricy, it is not as much as the Face and Body Foundation (but also maybe because of the product quantity) which is 44 euros, the Studio Fix Fluid foundation is only 33’50 euros.

*In fact, the Face and Body foundation container has 120 ml and the Studio Fix Fluid foundation one has 30 ml, so the second one is actually much more expensive than the other one, probably due to its lower coverage and more natural finish.*

Conclusion

My goal is to set this one as my usual foundation since it feels so nice and professional, the coverage is perfectly buildable and the finish is really natural and matte but not flat.

I think this this foundation is one of the real deals, or possibly all MAC foundations are since they leave your skin looking so amazingly.

I will go with my instincts and order a NW15 or have my shade picked again and purchase the proper one as soon as possible. Also, I need to throw away some old foundations and this is perfect from bringing the ‘new era’ feeling to this autumn winter.

I’m so happy with so many makeup trends and collections, stay tuned for an insight into the holidays releases and season trends really soon!

Peach Gold: Orange, the Color for this Summer 2018

Fortunately, summer is here again, full of color, velvety textures and shimmer. The makeup industry is bubbling up with new ranges, products and collections to spice up (wink at the Moroccan Spice palette from Fenty Beauty) our summer days and nights. In fact we already talked about the 10 MAC products perfect for this summer!

Among all those releases and exciting new trends, I’ve noticed that there’s one that seems to be the star of this summer 2018. And I personally love it!

🌅✨ Beach Please! ✨🌅 Happy Saturday lovely people! Here you have my favorite collection of the summer! The Brach Please collection from @fentybeauty is everything I needed for this summer. The freestyle highlighters and really freestyle and amazingly pigmented and metallic, perfect for getting creative by the ocean. The summer Daze lip trio is also so inspiring and makes me dream of evil mermaids and starry nights and the shore. It is all simply so stunning! I’ve been able to bring myself to use the freestyle highlighters almost every day to create some looks but I still have some respect for the lip trio since I have only wore them once and I’m still having that ‘new makeup, don’t spoil’ feeling. I’ll try to use them today now that I feel determined! Summer Vibes

If you have been following the beauty news and the social media of the giants of cosmetics and makeup trends, you may have notice that this summer everything is (as it could’t be other way) glow, bright colors, rich shades, blinding highlighting and bronzers worthy of a Mediterranean or Caribbean goddess.

It’s summer and it’s the season to be ready to look naturally bronzed and glowy at the beach with some perfectly tousled waves and then be the fiercest looking at the night club. I love summer (and it is the only thing that I love about it) because the opportunities to rock a huge variety of looks and trends are enormous. And you can only get so creative in summer.

Anyhow, after this little ode to the summer that I have indulge myself in writing, what I wanted to bring you today is a theory that I’ve been quietly observing and testing as I saw release after release and campaign after campaign all over the internet, the stores and the social media of the typically iconic makeup brands.

The thing is this: orange gold is the color of this summer 2018.

Peach Gold

I am talking about these few shades that vary among the bright orange, frost gold peach, strawberry bronze, rich copper, but most of all, this orange gold that appears to be in every single makeup release this summer, and though this articles is about that shade as an eyeshadow and the new palettes that contain them, it surely doesn’t end there. Lots of other products, packagings and full makeup lines have already ditched the rose gold in awe to the new queen: orange gold. Or peach gold if you think that sounds fancier, just remember, a deep, bright peach gold.

The Palettes

Now to dive right into this theory, I have three different palettes from very different makeup brands that perfectly represent and support this theory. After talking about them and remarking which shades (the star orange gold shade that we are talking about is by the way in EVERY palette) are the ones that support this whole chromatic trend, we can try and add a few more examples out of the eyeshadow palette world.

So, without further ado and hoping to have time to talk about everything I had in mind, here I bring you the palettes!

Lemonade Craze Platte by Maybelline

Of the three palettes that I’m going to talk about, this is the only one that I’ve actually managed to put my hands on. Also, maybe it was he first to break through this trend this year, since it was one of the first to be released. The shades speak clearly of summer vibes and all kinds of lemonade. Let’s have a look a it!

DEATHLESSVOGUE Peach Gold: Orange, the Color for this Summer 2018
DEATHLESSVOGUE Peach Gold: Orange, the Color for this Summer 2018

As you can see, the palette was released in two different formats, one squared and one rectangular, depending on the country of the release. Anyhow, the shades were the same, and the color scheme behind it really fits this family of colors that has become so so popular this summer.

Since I own this one, I can talk a little more about this one. All the shades are very pigmented, which I didn’t expect from a palette from Maybelline. I must say that the quality of drugstore makeup has improved these last years a lot. My favorite shades are ‘Ice Pop‘ (a stunning deep magenta), ‘Lemonade Craze‘ (bright warm yellow), ‘Coral Punch‘ (pure soft orange) and ‘Sugar Coated‘, which will be the ‘peach gold’ shade of this palette an amazingly shimmery deep orange with gold iridescence.

As I said, the quality of the shadows was really good, slightly buttery, soft, and easy to work with and blend. The amount of looks you can create with this one is amazing.

I’ll also leave you here some of my own pictures from Instagram featuring this palette. One of them got resposted by @maybelline itself and it made me really really happy! This was you can get a closer and more personal look to the palette.

I’ve been after this one since it started appearing on IG and it has taken so long to arrive to my country, but it was worth the wait! My absolute favorite shade is Sugar Coated, which is mainly the shade of this summer for me, followed by Icepop, Coral Punch and Lemonade Craze. This palette also totally backs up my theory of orange gold being the color for this summer 2018 so expect to see it included in my blog post! Sugar Coated and this whole palette represents this trend perfectly, like the new @kyliecosmetics palette and the @marcbeauty Fantascene palette! . And you, what do you think about this palette? Summer Palette by Kylie Cosmetics

This can be the boldest palettes of all the ones we are going to see. The blood orange shade is definitely one of the most gorgeous of this summer, and dark shades that includes even black, allow you to create deeper and more dramatic looks. It also has some shimmer and metallic golds and coppers to compliment the orange  and red shades.

I have never tried Kylie Cosmetics but this one sure sounds like one I would love to play with!

DEATHLESSVOGUE Peach Gold: Orange, the Color for this Summer 2018

Also I must say that the looks that Kylie wears in the promotional pictures of the palette is simply stunning and the lip shade pairs perfectly with the eye look. In love!

Eye-Conic palette by Marc Jacobs

The Eye-Conic palette was part of the wonderful Coconut Collection by Marc Jacobs, which included a new shade of their famous Dew Drops, and that sadly I haven’t had the opportunity to try (yet). The whole concept behind the collection and the design of the packagings caught my eye since the beginning, but sadly I still hadn’t bought anything from it.

DEATHLESSVOGUE Peach Gold: Orange, the Color for this Summer 2018

All the shades in the palette looked perfect for me, specially the orange gold shade, called ‘Meet Ya‘ which was screaming my name. I’ve been a Marc Jacobs fan since forever and this time it was really hard not to get this particular palette. It is  the most elegant of all the ones that have been released with this color scheme and the packaging is just perfect.

DEATHLESSVOGUE Peach Gold: Orange, the Color for this Summer 2018

The other shades were more toned down than in other palettes, so maybe this one isn’t the one for you if you a looking to create more fun, bright looks.

BONUS: Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter duo in ‘Mimosa Sunrise’ and ‘Sangria Sunset’ by Fenty Beauty

Directly from my personal collection, I couldn’t help but remember that one of my favorite products for this summer 2018 had that ‘peach gold’ shade in it and I had to include it!
It is the absolutely stunning Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter duo from Fenty Beauty, and the particular shade is called ‘Mimosa Sunrise’. I have to say that these highlighters are a delight and perform greatly from a subtle wash of colors for your cheeks and lids to blinding noticeable-from-space impact and metallic pay off.
I totally recommend these to creative makeup artists or people who want to experiment with makeup and have fun.

Take a look at that gorgeous color!

And that is it for now, stay tuned because the Fashion Weeks are over and the autumn trends are here and there are a thousand things I want to write about!
Lots of love!

Dolce&Gabanna Fall Winter 2018/19 Fashion Show and Video

This show breathes eclecticism and 80s. And the 80s were itself an era of aesthetic eclecticism, so this collection by Dolce&Gabanna was the epitome of it. A festival of luxury and trends mixed up in the most exquisite way. Dolce&Gabanna sells an ideal of beauty, youth, provocation, elegance and baroque. Everything is combined to give each look an unique appearance with a general halo of royalty.

Dolce&Gabanna: A bit about the house

Dolce&Gabbanna is one of the brands that I think achieves the royalty vibe masterfully. Jewelry is a really important aspect of both the shows and the collection, accessories are a must, often combining more than one, and gold always play an important goal. In my opinion the choose this approach even with their model choice: every model in a Dolce&Gabanna show is gorgeous. It is just like that. If not because of the clothes, you can instantly recognize a Dolce&Gabanna show because of the models.

D&G models

They are not an invisible thin mannequin to put their designs on. They are stunning, their makeup is done to emphasize every feature of their faces. Bold red lips, great skin, perfect glow, winged eyeliner. Really classical of you think about it. They strive to make the woman look one with the clothes, using their beauty to create a fierce look of emperess and queens.

This is one thing I really admire of them because they let the women be the center of attention, they are not objects, they are powerful, they are there, you can’t help but noticing them. And they are everything in the world in that moment.

Another characteristic of this collection and of Dolce and Gabanna itself is that they make fashion their religion. Every look is an icon, everything is divine. A lot of Christian references can be found in this collection and in others of this house., as well. Fashion is the sacred goddess to which they offer their work, honoring her.

I love Dolce and Gabanna because of this.
And now for the collection.

Dolce&Gabbana Fall Winter 2018/19 Fashion Show

First of all as always, the show.

This is a collection full of references and accessories. It is a deeply embellished creation with so many elements and so well applied. You can see influences from the 80s, Christianity, royalty, Japanese elements, lots of jewelries, gold, silver, precious stones. Everything is about having it all.

As we said in the beginning, eclecticism, youth, beauty, power. Divinity.

Let’s see now some of my favorite looks.

Santa Moda and Baz Luhrmann

You can see a lot of influence of this ‘fashion is religion’ concept in many of the creations directly represented by slogans like ‘Santa Moda’ or ‘Fashion sinner’. This is probably my favorite part of the collection. If you have ever seen a Baz Luhrmann movie, specially something like Moulin Rouge! or Romeo + Juliet, you’ll understand that the general aesthetic of this collection really remind me of them: extravagance, youth, christian imaginery, a touch of Hispanic culture (just in the above left outfit you can see Spanish and the colors of the Spanish flag), including christian catholic symbols and the ecclecticism of the 90s and 80s. Both Baz Luhrmann and Dolce&Gabanna seem to adore these Spanish references though D&G usually tends to the Italian side of it.

Also the regular opulence of Dolce&Gabanna, represented by rich textures and incredible jewelry that give everything a royal halo. The red is always important, as they usually adopt a shade similar to Valentino red to symbolize passion, in this case for fashion itself. Also note that D&G models regularly wear red lips as a statement more than a touch of makeup.

The looks are absolutely stunning and keep astounding you one after another (not saying that they all are that great, but mainly yes), varying their style but staying true to the general concept of the collection and the show.

Spain, Italy and Catholicism

We continue with the Spanish and Catholic symbology. We can see looks inspired in the traditional outfits that catholic women wear to church, specially in these regions that D&G loves so much, always in love with that 60s vibe of the great era of Italian cinema. I always think that every model is dresses as if she were Sofia Loren when they use this type of symbology. On the right we can see how this gorgeous dress modeled by the always-royal-looking Sasha Pivovarova, clearly inspired by the flamenco dress.

The more I keep looking at the outfits the more they remind me of Baz Luhrmann aesthetics as I have said. These all could easily be the custom designs for one of his movies. I sincerely hope by the way that some of this inspiration actually reaches him and makes him go back to doing something as amazing as Moulin Rouge! because I really need it. Or something like The Great Gatsby will be fine too.

The 80s Ecclecticism

Here you can also start to spot that obvious 80s and 90s influence in the collection: pop colors, appealing finishes and textures, baroque in the details and accessories. Sequins and a general vibe of a Madonna movie in the 80s.

By the way I think I’m getting a Madonna T-shirt in the next few days because I need to reinforce that 80s weakness this summer.

Black

One of my favorite looks also were (as it couldn’t be other way) the black ones. Black is the queen of colors as Renoir said, and he knew what he was saying. This outfits summarize all of the other inspirations of this collection and tone it down with a dash of elegance, lace and stunning mastery in the domain of jewelry and accessories.

I have to point out that again, the lace that accompanies the majority of the black designs, is inspired by the veils (which were also in the collection though I didn’t include them) and the gloves wore by catholic women to church in the 50s and 60s. I have the ones from my grandmother still and I must say that it is a gorgeous inspiration and I really love how they have used it.

Accessories and details

Lastly, let’s see a bit of the details of all these amazing designs.

Don’t forget the importance of opulence, jewelry and designs with gold and precious stones such as rubies and pearls, which is a main pillar of this collection’s concept.

And that’s it for now! I really loved this collection and everything about it looks fresh and exquisite to me.
I’ll probably go and watch Romeo + Juliet now!

I hope you enjoyed this one and lots of love!

Pure Clay Cleanser and Pure Sugar Face Scrub L’Óreal Review

Today I bring to you the Pure Clay Cleanser and Pure Sugar Face Scrub from L’Óreal review! Since I shared with you my latest skin care routine and now there have been some changes, I thought I might as well share them with you, specially when the results are so good!

For the past week I have been trying a new face care routine, or at least I have implemented some new products, and now that I’ve formed an opinion I wanted to share my experience with you.

IMG_7673

Introduction

A few months ago, some new face care products by L’Oreal Paris were released, following their Pure-Clay line. I had already tried and love one of these masks, specifically the black one, which really seemed to help bringing more light to my face and evening out my skin tone. Anyhow, though I liked it, it took me forever to use it up and I didn’t think or repurchasing it.

This was months ago, so when they released the two new masks (yellow and blue) and added them to their Pure-Clay line, I wasn’t really willing to buy them all in a rush. Also I read somewhere (I haven’t contrasted this information still) that all the masks of the line had basically the same ingredients but different colors. Though I didn’t confirmed that, it was a bit discouraging so I postponed trying the new ones for when I was feeling in a more ‘clay mask’ mood.

A few more months passed and then L’Oreal Paris released two more lines of products following these original line: the Pure Clay cleansing gels and the Pure Sugar face scrubs. The second ones really caught my attention and I kept seeing both lines in adverts and posts all over the internet, so at one point that I had some store credit in the skin care department, I thought it was time to give these two new lines a try even if it was only to confirm that they weren’t for me.

Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong!

The products

I bought the Pure Clay Charcoal Detoxifying gel wash and the Purify and Unclog Sugar Scrub with kiwi seeds.

Here is what L’Óreal website says about them:

PURE CLAY DETOX & BRIGHTEN CLEANSER

Daily Cleanser with 3 Pure Clays and Charcoal. Detoxes & Brightens Dull, Tired Skin. Removes everyday impurities.

“L’Oréal Paris Skin Experts created our 1st range of clay-to-mousse daily cleansers that leave skin looking perfectly clear. Each cleanser is powered by 3 different clays in their pure form and enhanced with a nature-sourced ingredient. Indulgently formulated to seamlessly transform from clay-to-mousse, Pure-Clay Cleansers remove everyday impurities without overdrying. Pure-Clay Cleanser Detox-Brighten goes beyond daily cleansing to clarify and detoxify for skin that can breathe better. Immediately skin is purified of dirt, oil and pollution, and is left with a clean, clear healthy look. Skin looks revitalized with a fresh glow. Use after use, skin’s overall quality is improved. Dull skin appears more radiant and luminous. Skin looks more beautiful.”

PURE CLAY PURE SUGAR L'ÓREAL DEATHLESSVOGUE

PURE SUGAR PURIFY & UNCLOG FACE SCRUB

Deeply yet gently exfoliates for soft, smooth skin. Purifies & unclogs pores. 3 Pure Sugars + Kiwi.

“This Pure Sugar Scrub is made of three naturally derived sugars (brown, blonde & white) and enhanced with real Kiwi Seeds. This light, gel-like sugar scrub is truly kind to your skin. Because the scrubbing particles are made of sugars and eventually melt, harsh exfoliation is prevented. Purify and unclog pores for soft, smooth skin. See effective results immediately. With this exfoliating sugar scrub skin feels purified and clean. Dirt, oil and impurities are effectively removed. Dull skin is gently polished away. In 1 week: skin feels baby-soft, smooth and comforted. Pores look tighter, unclogged and less visible. Skin looks less shiny and rebalanced. Skin looks healthier, smoother, glowing. Can also be used to smooth and refine lips.

My first impressions were positive, I loved the packaging, and the gel seemed really easy to use, which I always appreciate since I’m accustomed to more natural and organic skin care that usually tends to be a little messier. Both products looked great and got your expectations high with some fancy how to use instructions and sweet promises about a better skin.

I must say that the Kiwi Sugar Scrub smells DELICIOUS. Like, really amazing. And the Pure Clay Charcoal gel smells exactly the same as its mask version (the black one).

I’ll list the ingredients of both products down here so everyone can know beforehand if this is a product that they might be willing to try or not.

The review

Both products work amazingly. It really was a surprise to find that they worked so well for me, a wonderful surprise I must say! I’ve been looking for some ‘easy’ skin care products that I can use whenever I don’t have that much time but that still do their job and don’t upset my sensitive skin. With these, I’ve found them where I least expected them. Let’s dive in each one of them!

Pure Clay Detox & Brighten Cleanser with Charcoal

I use this now everyday, mainly at nights after I’ve removed my makeup or in the shower. The consistency is really great, it has a deep grey color and a fragrance that is the same of the Pure Clay mask of the same color. It foams up really quickly and after you have used it you feel your skin clean and smooth, almost as the same feeling you get with micropeeling products.

I’ve really grown to love it just through the start of my first tube. The packaging also is great for taking it anywhere you plan to sleep, or to the gym, the sink or the shower. It does an amazing job at reducing redness, pimples and blackheads. My skin hasn’t look smoother in a long time, and I must say that it is thank to this little gem. I’m really really happy I found it.

Also, you new very little product for each ‘wash’ so it really lasts a long time. If your skin is sensitive but on the oily/combination/acne prone zone, you have to give this a try!

PURE CLAY PURE SUGAR L'ÓREAL DEATHLESSVOGUE

Pure Clay Detox & Brighten Cleanser with Charcoal L’ÓREAL

Pure Sugar Purify and Unclog Face Scrub with Kiwi

This face scrub is really special due to two things. First of all, it is really dense and rich, and as much as it exfoliates your skin perfectly well, it also leaves your skin nourished, smooth and full of life. And second of all, the smell. The smell is so good that when I couldn’t decide which one of the three Pure Sugar face scrubs I wanted to try, I just had to buy this one for he smell (and the kiwi seeds too, that really pleased me). Luckily I can say that I didn’t make a mistake!

The sugar in this makes a perfect exfoliation, not harsh at all, the sugar almost seems partially melted into a rich creamy honey texture that replenishes your skin with shine and vitality at the same time that it gets rid of dullness and dead cells. It is all in all a delight to apply and have on. What I usually do is apply in the shower and leave it on for a minute before scrubbing it all and then rinse it of. This way I think I can get better advantage of this nourishing quality of it.

If you are looking for a good face scrub that leaves your skin amazing and smelling divine, this is the Pure Sugar scrub for you!

Top 10 Mac Cosmetics Products for this Summer 2018

Summer is pretty much around the corner even though the weather keeps insisting in proving the opposite.

In no time we will be in a lounge at the beach with a glamorous cocktail in one hand watching the sun go down on our gorgeous tan, or under an umbrella freshly out of the ocean water enjoying the sunlight and the new bikini trends, or in a club at night ready to party in our most favorite dress and our ride waiting at the door. Or at least that’s what we wish for.

Anyhow, if you are either spending this summer in the city or the ocean, we all need that extra boost of glow that makes us feel that it’s summer wherever we are going or whatever we do.

MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

On the other hand, you know by now that I love MAC Cosmetics products, and when it comes to make you feel like a diva, this brand has always the last word. As every summer, they have also released a great limited edition collection called ‘Mirage Noir‘. I must say that since I assisted to that event when I was able to try it before it came out to the markets, I’ve fallen completely in love with it. But I will talk about that stunning collection in another article dedicated exclusive to it, so if you like Mirage Noir collection, stay tuned!

Going back to the need for a summer boost of glow and confidence and the basics of feeling a diva when the sun starts shinning, we all agree that that is a need with which we are familiar with, and that is the doom (and also the bless!) of every summer. We want to look fabulous but struggle to know how to achieve that ‘too glam to care’ vibe.

And for that special purpose, today I bring you a selection of 10 products from MAC that I choose specially with that idea in mind: what would you need this summer to glow day and night?

  1. MAC PREP + PRIME FIX+ (SHIMMER) IN ‘GOLDLITE’

MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUEThe first of all if that if you are ever in a hurry is making sure you are going to end up looking splendorous enough no matter how much time you put into the rest of your make up. There has to be that one magical product that ensures that you leave feeling and looking perfect and that the rest or makeup process and the whole day is a full success. For that, there’s nothing better than the new Fix Plus with shimmer that comes in two versions, Pinklite (with pink shimmer) and Goldlite (with gold shimmer).

Though I have the Pinklite one, I’ve tried both and for the purpose of this list, the Goldlite is this key product. The golden shimmer is perfect for summer and for giving you a fresh glow appearance in just a couple of spritzes. Also, it serves both as a primer for your make and as a fixer. It is just the wonder bottle. The Fix Plus has always been a top product but with this new twist, there’s no way you can resist the need to bathe yourself in this magical mist to glow and feel fresh all through the summer.

  2. MAC STROBE CREAM IN ‘PEACHLITE’

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

This moisturizer is a total must for this summer. While hydrating your skin, it gives an amazing glow and fresh look due to the pearly particles in it. Strobing in a bottle! This strobe cream comes in different tones but the Peachlite, with its pink peach pearly shade is the perfect one for this summer. The pink/peach tones boost the youth and freshness of every skintone, and the mix of silvery and golden undertones makes any skin seem full of light and life. The perfect highlighter and the perfect color correction for dull skins or for those who want to add a special ‘healthy glow’ finish to their skins.

Also, MAC has a body version of this strobing magic, that you can get and pair up with your favorite Strobe Cream and be the girl with the best looking tan in all the beach. Even if you are in the office.

  3. MAC EXTRA DIMENSION HIGHLIGHTER IN ‘SHOW GOLD’

MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUEWe all know that MAC highlighters are one of the best ones out there. Not only they highlight as if you were hit by the light of heavens, but it feel luxurious. The texture, the smell, the fine satin-like powder, the iridescence… The magic. They are the highlighter you need if you feel is lacking that extra glam that you need to accomplish everything in life.

This is one personal opinion, you have never felt as good with a highlighter on that with the ones from MAC. And now, leaving my obsessions aside, I can say this shade, which I own of course because it’s gorgeous, is the perfect match for the Peachlite Strobe Cream. This shade, ‘Show Gold‘, is a rose gold peachy color with heaps and heaps of warm and cold iridescent shimmer.

The consistency of this one is just perfect. So smooth you can hardly feel it’s a powder. A delight to be applied. And as we have said before, perfect, as the Peachlite Strobe Cream, for all skin tones to boost their natural glow and take it through the roof. What can be better for summer than ‘Show Gold‘?

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

  4. MAC PEARLMATTE FACE POWDER: MOTHER O’ PEARL

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE
    The  jewel of the crown.
As you might know, MAC launches limited editions every summer, and let me say that  the collection of this year is plainly amazing. Since I was able to try the products before they went out in the market in an event at my MAC store, I have had the opportunity to know this collection in depth and I can just say that I’m in love. But we’ll see all that in the article about the collection.
The thing is, if MAC already has a collection for the summer, how could I not pick some of these products into my summer list.

This one here is simply the best product in the collection. It is gorgeously design, beside from the amazing duochromatic packaging all the products from the collection have, it smells pure and luxurious, and the shades just have me crazy. You can use these powder all over your face using all the shades to give you a special tan/fuchsia/illuminated instant good looking face. But you can also use it as a blush, a bronzer and a highlighter, choosing which shades of the pattern you want to take with your brush, either if you want to use them separately, all together or in combination, this face powder is just the best.

In addition, it gives a glorious pearly but matte finish, and only comes in this divine combination of perfectly chosen shades, called Mother O`Pearl.
I own this one too and I can only say that it’s sold out for a reason.

  5. M·A·C STUDIO FACE AND BODY FOUNDATION / MIRAGE NOIR IN ‘LIGHT PEARL’

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE
If you are already familiar with the Face and Body Foundation form MAC, prepare  yourself for the summer twist in this one. In the Mirage Noir collection we can find two Face and Body shades that are specially formulated to bronze and shimmer our skin like we have just arrived to a party after a long day at the beach.

The pearly glow in this one is gorgeous and though there are only two shades, they are really translucent and blend perfectly with all the skin tones. If you are already in your most tan version, use the Medium Deep Pearl shade, but for every day use and to look perfectly sunny at all occasions, I recommend the Light Pearl one! If you have time and a MAC store where you live, go and swatch this because its bronzing magic is amazing.

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

  6. MAC LIPGLASS / MIRAGE NOIR IN ‘MIDNIGHT DIP’

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

The last product in this list from the Mirage Noir collection couldn’t be other than one of the luscious Lipglasses designed specially by MAC for this summer. This one here, ‘Midnight Dip‘, is the perfect combination of a gloss and a dark lip. The shimmery particles in it makes it a gorgeous color that can turn any look into a success in seconds. If you pair it with Treasure Beach (bright pink), as I did in one look for Instagram, the dimension you can achieve is simply stunning. This is by far my most favorite gloss of the summer and though I still don’t own it, it’s definitely on my wishlist.

This color is ten times more beautiful when you actually try it than here in the pictures, so as I usually recommend with everything, if you have a store anywhere near, go and try this because I couldn’t have fallen in love harder when I did.

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

  7. MAC IN EXTREME DIMENSION WATERPROOF MASCARA IN ‘DIMENSIONAL BLACK’

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

Because who doesn’t love a great waterproof mascara for the season of heat, pools and beach. MAC Extreme Dimension Waterproof mascara ensures that your glamorous looking lashes are going to stay volumized, lengthened, pitch black and in place all through your pool party, your day at the beach or your clubbing night.

A waterproof mascara is a must for every summer and this one will just exceed your expectations. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate the stunning packaging with the neon effect teal letters all over it?

Don’t leave anyone indifferent to your look and apply two coats of this mascara to have that killer queen gaze that make heads turn!

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

  8. MAC LIQUIDLAST LINER IN ‘WET ROAD’

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

Yes, an eyeliner seems to be always a must. But it’s summer and the party has started. Ditch your regular black eyeliner for when the holidays are over and head to this wonderful pearly silver shade of the MAC Liquidlast Liner, ‘Wet Road‘.

Get creative with it or just do your usual winged eyeliner, I assure you that with this awesome liner you won’t leave anyone indifferent.

Even if you wear it alone or you use it as the cherry on the top a dark glossy lips and full lashes look, this will make you look and feel as if you are ready to slay the night. Disco ball and everything.

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

  9. MAC GRAND ILLUSION LIQUID LIPCOLOUR IN ‘SPACE BUBBLE’
    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

If you have already seen this line of lipcolours, you understand why it is in this list. The Grand Illusion lipcolours combine iridescence, a metallic finish and almost like a duochrome effect full of multidimensional shimmery particles that will take you out of space. This particular color, ‘Space Bubble‘ is a double deep reed bright pink  with golden shimmer gorgeousness potion that will be perfect for the days you want to be the center of attention.

The holographic effect in this one is amazing too, is its really comfortable to apply, hydrating, and as a plus it has a refreshing effect that will plump your lips to even further galaxies. If you like special effects lipcolours, you have to try this line! I have and I just can say that it’s twice as marvelous as you imagine it at the very least.
This close up doesn’t do justice to how stunning it is but if you search for swatches you’ll become a believer!

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

  10. MAC DAZZLEGLASS IN ‘DATE NIGHT’

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

Finally, this list couldn’t be completed without one of the Dazzleglasses. If you haven’t seen this everywhere you are the lucky person that lives in a cave or under a rock that I aspire to be. But MAC Dazzleglasses are really a thing. They took the concept of the lip gloss, made the Lipglasses, and now the next level are the stunning Dazzleglasses, a lip gloss infused with glitter, shimmer, and every kind of iridescence, pearly and holographic particles you can imagine.

Date Night‘ is a gorgeous color well, for date nights and for every night. The deep magenta shade in this pairs perfectly with the fuchsia concept of the Mirage Noir collection, or what is the same, the idea of MAC of this summer 2018. For me, I could hardly leave aside more than one or two Dazzleglasses since they all seem gorgeous to me, but this is clearly the most special for me. When deep and rich shades and amazing finishes are combined, I’m all in.

If I manage to get one of these, I’ll probably wear it every single night of the summer. Who needs spotlights when you can shine so bright on your own! Just look at that, isn’t that the prettiest thing you have ever seen?

    MAC COSMETICS DEATHLESSVOGUE

And that’s it! I hope you enjoy my selection and that you can get yourself one of these to make your summer as divine as you. Don’t forget to share your own MAC Cosmetics favorites for summer!
Lots of love!

Focallure 18 Eyeshadows Bright Lux Palette Review

You all know by now that I have a weakness for warm toned palettes.

If you remember my article about them, warm toned palettes are not only a trend that doesn’t seem to grow old since it boomed last year, but also a blessing for me, who already wore dark red lip liner as an eyeliner in high school (dark times, dark places). In that article I presented some of the most popular palettes that followed this trend in the moment and a general overview on my opinion on the trend.
Anyhow, warm palettes are a marvelous gift from the heavens and today I bring to you the review of one of the most exquisite ones I have tried. I’m talking about the Focallure 18 Shades Full Function Palette, in the shade Bright Lux.
First of all here you can see some of the pictures from the company.

Does the shade selection looks familiar?

That’s probably is because it’s the most magnificent dupe (probably the best dupe of anything I’ve found in my whole life) of the famous Rose Gold palette from Huda Beauty.

eyeshadow_palette_1024x1024

What do I mean with a dupe?
I mean that the the quality of the Focallure palette is so fantastically amazing and I’m so impressed with it that I am actually quite shocked that it is so stunningly similar in quality. But let’s take things slowly and begin this review!

The Company

About a month ago I discover a fantastic online shop called Womental. I had been seeing their products over Instagram and I decided to take a look at their web.
In the makeup section the sell mainly Focallure products, of which I have never heard before this. The Bright Lux palette’s shades were too beautiful for me to resist it and after searching for some reviews online (all good, truth be told) I decided to get that one. They also have a Neutrals one version, that seemed more practical for everyday looks, but if you follow me on Instagram you know that I’m not that much intro practicality and that I can’t help falling in love with everything that shines, sparkles or has glitter. And also holographic stuff but that’s a subject for another day.

Returning to the palette,  after a lot of debate and scrolling up and down the site, I set my mind on that one and hoped for the results to be as good as they seemed on the internet. Obviously, I had my doubts, but this was probably the time that I learned to be open minded about makeup.

The brand

While my package was on its way, I did a bit of research about Focallure. They are a cruelty free brand (GOOD) that apparently is only available online through their own website or through resellers, and that specializes in makeup and beauty. They have a hue variety of products at amazing prices, and the fact that they sell to resellers too really pleases me, since they help and support growing business like the wonderful website where I discovered this brand, Womental. More point to them for that.

The package

The time passed and my very excitedly expected packaged finally arrived. First of all I must say a really big thank you to Womental. What was my surprise when I opened it that not only my palette was there in a perfect state (and it arrived pretty quickly from far far away, I must say) but also three lip products that were a complete bliss and that were sent as a gift.

"<yoastmark

Womental can have their five golden stars for this amazing service and customer care!

The palette

"<yoastmark

Now to the core of the question. The Focallure palette was in my hands and all I had to do was open it and swatch it and the truth will be revealed. I did. And guess what?

It was as amazing as the one from Huda. No, I’m not kidding. This is some serious business. Really serious.

Even if you are not searching for a Huda Rose Gold dupe but just for an amazingly pigmented and beautiful warm toned palette that can battle Modern Renaissance and win, this is the palette for you.

"<yoastmark

"<yoastmark

Concerning the packaging, I loved the overall feeling of it. The Focallure palette looks luxurious but elegant, shiny black with the right dosage of gold/rose gold details and a magnetic lock. Just perfect.

The shadows

"<yoastmark

"<yoastmark

"<yoastmark

"<yoastmark

There are seven foiled shadows, one shimmery shadow and ten matte shadows. I first swatched the foiled ones (obviously) and I was so so surprised. The pigmentation is like one I’ve never seen before. You can swatch them with your fingers and then swatch them in your arms and they’ll still look as if you had put eyeshadow primer under them. Perfect. Just perfect. The colors were perfect too.

"<yoastmark

"<yoastmark

At first I thought that the matte ones weren’t as pigmented but this was only that it took more than one finger swatch to get the surface of the shadow out of their ‘baked’ state. After this, oh my, the pigmentation on those too. The reds, pinks and burgundies look so so beautiful on the eyes. Just wait and see.

For the shimmery white shadow, the same thing happened as with the matte ones.

So, all of them were the perfect quality. And I’m saying perfect, which is not something I say that easily. The shadows are as I’ve said amazingly pigmented, the texture is buttery just to the right amount and they are still so easy to work with and blend. They are also long lasting and water resistant. You will need a good set of brushes for this palette because well, it is what you call a professional palette. No kidding.

Here you have a bonus video if you want to see that shimmering action!

As soon as I ended the swatching phase, I went straight to creating some looks to see how the Focallure eyeshadows worked on the eyes and with actual brushes. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves!

The looks

This look was a more or bright look where I gave a try at the cut creased trend. I mainly used Wine, Terracota, Toffee, Indian Red as a transition color and Moonlight and Garnet to highlight the lid, the corner of the eye and the browbone. Also I used extra Toffe and some Carbon on the outer corner of the eye to polish it up! I used a little of Lash Paradise mascara from L’Óreal and that’s it!

✨Night Lux✨ . And here’s the other look I made with the #focallure palette from @womental! . The colors are really similar but this is more of like a bold version, there’s more contrast and the brow bone isn’t highlighted. I also add some glitter and eyeliner and blended the cut crease so it will be more subtle! . Products used: @focallure 18 Colors Eyeshadow Palette in Bright Lux @lorealmakeup Lash Paradise Mascara @catrice.cosmetics Eyeliner Pen Waterproof version in black @wetnwildbeauty Color Icon Glitter in ‘Bleached’ . I really hope you enjoyed this one too. In this one I tried to give a date nigh twist on the first look. It is more dark since it has more of the Wine color the outer color is a lighter mix of this one and Toffee. The cut crease is blended with someof this too, and the color Terracota goes up to the brow without highlighting. For the inner corner, I used Garnet, Moonlight, Bisque and some Wet n Wild Color Icon glitter in the shade ‘Bleached’. This time, I added a winged eyeliner with Catrice Eye Liner Pen in waterproof black and again the Lash Paradise mascara from L’Óreal.

I know that both of the looks are really similar regarding the color choice but that was totally my fault. It was my first ever warm palette and I wanted to play with those reds and pinks like crazy. Also, I must say that it was my first time trying a cut crease and I always thought the best colors for that technique are burgundies.

This palette is really versatile and in the next round I take at it I’ll sure be looking to create something quite different with the more gold/brown/orange section of the palette.
If you want to see how those turn out, stay tuned!

Conclusion

I just want to thank Womental for their fantastic service, their kindness and for introducing me to such an amazing makeup brand. I couldn’t be happier with this, and though this is mainly a review of the palette, I must say that the lip products they sent me were fantastic too (and smelled divine), so you will probably see a review about those around here soon, as well as some pictures in my Instagram (which I already took!).
You have to check out their shop, they also sell accessories, hair items, jewelry and what not!

This has been a very positive experience and I encourage you all to go out there and try and search and to look always beyond.

And of course I recommend this palette to all of you who can’t afford Anastasia Beverly Hills or Huda Beauty and still want to feel like a Hollywood starlet, because you deserve it!

I really hope you enjoyed this and lots of love!

Met Gala 2018 Heavenly Bodies: Top Looks of the Night

Met Gala 2018

Last night we could attend to the biggest night of the year for the fashion industry: the Met Gala.

The theme of this year was ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’, so we knew beforehand that it was going to be a night to be remembered. Fashion designers and celebrities sometimes spend weeks or even months designing and preparing their creations for the red carpet of this famous night, and having that theme in mind, we knew that the looks were going to be resounding.

There were sure some Lady Gaga moments, though they were sadly not starred by herself since she didn’t attend, like the Pope inspired dress and headpiece that Rihanna wore, but for me there were also some seriously stylish and beautiful looks that deserved some attention.

Some of my favorite designers worked in the dresses that paraded the red carpet last night and I’m here to share with you the most iconic looks of the night!

Though there were some that practically broke the internet as they made their appearance, there were also that, leaving the hype aside, spoke loudly of the true love for fashion. Let’s see them.
