Peach Gold: Orange, the Color for this Summer 2018

Fortunately, summer is here again, full of color, velvety textures and shimmer. The makeup industry is bubbling up with new ranges, products and collections to spice up (wink at the Moroccan Spice palette from Fenty Beauty) our summer days and nights. In fact we already talked about the 10 MAC products perfect for this summer!

Among all those releases and exciting new trends, I’ve noticed that there’s one that seems to be the star of this summer 2018. And I personally love it!

🌅✨ Beach Please! ✨🌅 Happy Saturday lovely people! Here you have my favorite collection of the summer! The Brach Please collection from @fentybeauty is everything I needed for this summer. The freestyle highlighters and really freestyle and amazingly pigmented and metallic, perfect for getting creative by the ocean. The summer Daze lip trio is also so inspiring and makes me dream of evil mermaids and starry nights and the shore. It is all simply so stunning! I’ve been able to bring myself to use the freestyle highlighters almost every day to create some looks but I still have some respect for the lip trio since I have only wore them once and I’m still having that ‘new makeup, don’t spoil’ feeling. I’ll try to use them today now that I feel determined! Do you have a favorite collection of the summer? . . . . . . . @sephora_spain @sephora #fentybeauty #beachplease #beachpleasecollection #fentybeautyhighlighter #freestylehighlighter #summerdaze #fentybeautyliptrio #slaytheflatlay #slaythegram #makeuppost #makeupposts #fentybeautybrush #sangriasunset #mintdmojito #kirakira #slave2makeup #fentybeautycollection #sephora #glossbomb #deathlessvogue

Summer Vibes

If you have been following the beauty news and the social media of the giants of cosmetics and makeup trends, you may have notice that this summer everything is (as it could’t be other way) glow, bright colors, rich shades, blinding highlighting and bronzers worthy of a Mediterranean or Caribbean goddess.

It’s summer and it’s the season to be ready to look naturally bronzed and glowy at the beach with some perfectly tousled waves and then be the fiercest looking at the night club. I love summer (and it is the only thing that I love about it) because the opportunities to rock a huge variety of looks and trends are enormous. And you can only get so creative in summer.

Anyhow, after this little ode to the summer that I have indulge myself in writing, what I wanted to bring you today is a theory that I’ve been quietly observing and testing as I saw release after release and campaign after campaign all over the internet, the stores and the social media of the typically iconic makeup brands.

The thing is this: orange gold is the color of this summer 2018.

Peach Gold

I am talking about these few shades that vary among the bright orange, frost gold peach, strawberry bronze, rich copper, but most of all, this orange gold that appears to be in every single makeup release this summer, and though this articles is about that shade as an eyeshadow and the new palettes that contain them, it surely doesn’t end there. Lots of other products, packagings and full makeup lines have already ditched the rose gold in awe to the new queen: orange gold. Or peach gold if you think that sounds fancier, just remember, a deep, bright peach gold.

The Palettes

Now to dive right into this theory, I have three different palettes from very different makeup brands that perfectly represent and support this theory. After talking about them and remarking which shades (the star orange gold shade that we are talking about is by the way in EVERY palette) are the ones that support this whole chromatic trend, we can try and add a few more examples out of the eyeshadow palette world.

So, without further ado and hoping to have time to talk about everything I had in mind, here I bring you the palettes!

Lemonade Craze Platte by Maybelline

Of the three palettes that I’m going to talk about, this is the only one that I’ve actually managed to put my hands on. Also, maybe it was he first to break through this trend this year, since it was one of the first to be released. The shades speak clearly of summer vibes and all kinds of lemonade. Let’s have a look a it!

As you can see, the palette was released in two different formats, one squared and one rectangular, depending on the country of the release. Anyhow, the shades were the same, and the color scheme behind it really fits this family of colors that has become so so popular this summer.

Since I own this one, I can talk a little more about this one. All the shades are very pigmented, which I didn’t expect from a palette from Maybelline. I must say that the quality of drugstore makeup has improved these last years a lot. My favorite shades are ‘Ice Pop‘ (a stunning deep magenta), ‘Lemonade Craze‘ (bright warm yellow), ‘Coral Punch‘ (pure soft orange) and ‘Sugar Coated‘, which will be the ‘peach gold’ shade of this palette an amazingly shimmery deep orange with gold iridescence.

As I said, the quality of the shadows was really good, slightly buttery, soft, and easy to work with and blend. The amount of looks you can create with this one is amazing.

I’ll also leave you here some of my own pictures from Instagram featuring this palette. One of them got resposted by @maybelline itself and it made me really really happy! This was you can get a closer and more personal look to the palette.

🍋 Lemonade Craze 🍋 Happy Friday night lovely people!!! Say hello to my new favorite palette from @maybelline! This Friday night, no lemonade no party! 🍋 . I’ve been after this one since it started appearing on IG and it has taken so long to arrive to my country, but it was worth the wait! My absolute favorite shade is Sugar Coated, which is mainly the shade of this summer for me, followed by Icepop, Coral Punch and Lemonade Craze. This palette also totally backs up my theory of orange gold being the color for this summer 2018 so expect to see it included in my blog post! Sugar Coated and this whole palette represents this trend perfectly, like the new @kyliecosmetics palette and the @marcbeauty Fantascene palette! . And you, what do you think about this palette? Which is your favorite shade from it? . This edit was one of my favorite, so let me know what do you think! . . . . . . . @maybelline_es #maybelline #maybellineespaña #lemonadecraze #mnyitlook #mny #mnymakeup #maybellineeyeshadowpalette #maybellineeyeshadow #maybellinesummer #lemonadecrazepalette #lemonadecrazeeyeshadowpalette #maybellinepalette #makeupedit #lemonademakeup #summermakeup #summer2018makeup #eyeshadowpalette #makeupmess #makeupjunkies #slave2makeup #makeupphotography #makeuppornphotography #deathlessvogue

Summer Palette by Kylie Cosmetics

This can be the boldest palettes of all the ones we are going to see. The blood orange shade is definitely one of the most gorgeous of this summer, and dark shades that includes even black, allow you to create deeper and more dramatic looks. It also has some shimmer and metallic golds and coppers to compliment the orange  and red shades.

I have never tried Kylie Cosmetics but this one sure sounds like one I would love to play with!

Also I must say that the looks that Kylie wears in the promotional pictures of the palette is simply stunning and the lip shade pairs perfectly with the eye look. In love!

Eye-Conic palette by Marc Jacobs

The Eye-Conic palette was part of the wonderful Coconut Collection by Marc Jacobs, which included a new shade of their famous Dew Drops, and that sadly I haven’t had the opportunity to try (yet). The whole concept behind the collection and the design of the packagings caught my eye since the beginning, but sadly I still hadn’t bought anything from it.

All the shades in the palette looked perfect for me, specially the orange gold shade, called ‘Meet Ya‘ which was screaming my name. I’ve been a Marc Jacobs fan since forever and this time it was really hard not to get this particular palette. It is  the most elegant of all the ones that have been released with this color scheme and the packaging is just perfect.

The other shades were more toned down than in other palettes, so maybe this one isn’t the one for you if you a looking to create more fun, bright looks.

BONUS: Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter duo in ‘Mimosa Sunrise’ and ‘Sangria Sunset’ by Fenty Beauty

Directly from my personal collection, I couldn’t help but remember that one of my favorite products for this summer 2018 had that ‘peach gold’ shade in it and I had to include it!
It is the absolutely stunning Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter duo from Fenty Beauty, and the particular shade is called ‘Mimosa Sunrise’. I have to say that these highlighters are a delight and perform greatly from a subtle wash of colors for your cheeks and lids to blinding noticeable-from-space impact and metallic pay off.
I totally recommend these to creative makeup artists or people who want to experiment with makeup and have fun.

Take a look at that gorgeous color!

And that is it for now, stay tuned because the Fashion Weeks are over and the autumn trends are here and there are a thousand things I want to write about!
Lots of love!

Dolce&Gabanna Fall Winter 2018/19 Fashion Show and Video

This show breathes eclecticism and 80s. And the 80s were itself an era of aesthetic eclecticism, so this collection by Dolce&Gabanna was the epitome of it. A festival of luxury and trends mixed up in the most exquisite way. Dolce&Gabanna sells an ideal of beauty, youth, provocation, elegance and baroque. Everything is combined to give each look an unique appearance with a general halo of royalty.

Dolce&Gabanna: A bit about the house

Dolce&Gabbanna is one of the brands that I think achieves the royalty vibe masterfully. Jewelry is a really important aspect of both the shows and the collection, accessories are a must, often combining more than one, and gold always play an important goal. In my opinion the choose this approach even with their model choice: every model in a Dolce&Gabanna show is gorgeous. It is just like that. If not because of the clothes, you can instantly recognize a Dolce&Gabanna show because of the models.

D&G models

They are not an invisible thin mannequin to put their designs on. They are stunning, their makeup is done to emphasize every feature of their faces. Bold red lips, great skin, perfect glow, winged eyeliner. Really classical of you think about it. They strive to make the woman look one with the clothes, using their beauty to create a fierce look of emperess and queens.

This is one thing I really admire of them because they let the women be the center of attention, they are not objects, they are powerful, they are there, you can’t help but noticing them. And they are everything in the world in that moment.

Another characteristic of this collection and of Dolce and Gabanna itself is that they make fashion their religion. Every look is an icon, everything is divine. A lot of Christian references can be found in this collection and in others of this house., as well. Fashion is the sacred goddess to which they offer their work, honoring her.

I love Dolce and Gabanna because of this.
And now for the collection.

Dolce&Gabbana Fall Winter 2018/19 Fashion Show

First of all as always, the show.

This is a collection full of references and accessories. It is a deeply embellished creation with so many elements and so well applied. You can see influences from the 80s, Christianity, royalty, Japanese elements, lots of jewelries, gold, silver, precious stones. Everything is about having it all.

As we said in the beginning, eclecticism, youth, beauty, power. Divinity.

Let’s see now some of my favorite looks.

Santa Moda and Baz Luhrmann

You can see a lot of influence of this ‘fashion is religion’ concept in many of the creations directly represented by slogans like ‘Santa Moda’ or ‘Fashion sinner’. This is probably my favorite part of the collection. If you have ever seen a Baz Luhrmann movie, specially something like Moulin Rouge! or Romeo + Juliet, you’ll understand that the general aesthetic of this collection really remind me of them: extravagance, youth, christian imaginery, a touch of Hispanic culture (just in the above left outfit you can see Spanish and the colors of the Spanish flag), including christian catholic symbols and the ecclecticism of the 90s and 80s. Both Baz Luhrmann and Dolce&Gabanna seem to adore these Spanish references though D&G usually tends to the Italian side of it.

Also the regular opulence of Dolce&Gabanna, represented by rich textures and incredible jewelry that give everything a royal halo. The red is always important, as they usually adopt a shade similar to Valentino red to symbolize passion, in this case for fashion itself. Also note that D&G models regularly wear red lips as a statement more than a touch of makeup.

The looks are absolutely stunning and keep astounding you one after another (not saying that they all are that great, but mainly yes), varying their style but staying true to the general concept of the collection and the show.

Spain, Italy and Catholicism

We continue with the Spanish and Catholic symbology. We can see looks inspired in the traditional outfits that catholic women wear to church, specially in these regions that D&G loves so much, always in love with that 60s vibe of the great era of Italian cinema. I always think that every model is dresses as if she were Sofia Loren when they use this type of symbology. On the right we can see how this gorgeous dress modeled by the always-royal-looking Sasha Pivovarova, clearly inspired by the flamenco dress.

The more I keep looking at the outfits the more they remind me of Baz Luhrmann aesthetics as I have said. These all could easily be the custom designs for one of his movies. I sincerely hope by the way that some of this inspiration actually reaches him and makes him go back to doing something as amazing as Moulin Rouge! because I really need it. Or something like The Great Gatsby will be fine too.

The 80s Ecclecticism

Here you can also start to spot that obvious 80s and 90s influence in the collection: pop colors, appealing finishes and textures, baroque in the details and accessories. Sequins and a general vibe of a Madonna movie in the 80s.

By the way I think I’m getting a Madonna T-shirt in the next few days because I need to reinforce that 80s weakness this summer.

Black

One of my favorite looks also were (as it couldn’t be other way) the black ones. Black is the queen of colors as Renoir said, and he knew what he was saying. This outfits summarize all of the other inspirations of this collection and tone it down with a dash of elegance, lace and stunning mastery in the domain of jewelry and accessories.

I have to point out that again, the lace that accompanies the majority of the black designs, is inspired by the veils (which were also in the collection though I didn’t include them) and the gloves wore by catholic women to church in the 50s and 60s. I have the ones from my grandmother still and I must say that it is a gorgeous inspiration and I really love how they have used it.

Accessories and details

Lastly, let’s see a bit of the details of all these amazing designs.

Don’t forget the importance of opulence, jewelry and designs with gold and precious stones such as rubies and pearls, which is a main pillar of this collection’s concept.

And that’s it for now! I really loved this collection and everything about it looks fresh and exquisite to me.
I’ll probably go and watch Romeo + Juliet now!

I hope you enjoyed this one and lots of love!
